UMW Toyota ends 2023 with increased sales, more electrified vehicles to come

UMW Toyota Motor Sdn Bhd wrapped up 2023 on a high with year-to-date sales totalling 108,107 units. This represents a 7% increase in cumulative sales compared to 2022 with 101,035 units sold.

In December 2023, the company recorded a monthly total sales of 10,402 units; made of up 10,079 Toyota vehicles and 323 Lexus vehicles. There was also cause for celebration in the aftersales department as UMWT recorded 1,342,130 returning customers in 2023.

“We persist in our efforts to offer an enriched mobility experience through our Toyota cars and extend access to ownership for potential customers, said President of UMWT, Datuk Ravindran K.

2023 marked an eventful year for UMWT after nearly revamping its entire lineup with new vehicles for the Malaysian market. The year started with a bang; with the introduction of GR models such as the GR86, GR Corolla, GR Hilux, GR Corolla Cross and the manual Supra.

This was followed by the all-new Toyota Vios, an updated Yaris, the Corolla GR Sport and the all-new Innova Zenix before topping it off with the all-new Alphard in October. Just a few days into the new year, Toyota is already hinting at more to come, especially with electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles.

Datuk Ravindran K. said, “As we look forward to 2024, our focus will be on introducing more models, particularly with an emphasis on xEV technologies.”
