Video: 2023 Toyota Hilux GR Sport from RM159k – first Hilux with gear shift paddles!



UMW Toyota Motor has launched the new Hilux GR Sport and if you think it’s all about aesthetics; well, you’d be surprised. Prices start from RM159,880, with the Hilux and Corolla Cross GR Sport available for viewing at all GR Outlets nationwide.

The Hilux GR Sport is based on the 2.8 Rouge variant of the Hilux. Output remains unchanged with 204 hp and 500 Nm of torque from a 2.8-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel engine. The engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission but unlike the standard Hilux, the GR version features gear shift paddles – making it the first ever Hilux to feature it. Adding further athleticism to the Hilux GR Sport is a set of sports suspension with monotube dampers.

But that’s not all; on the outside, the Hilux GR Sport gets a redesigned front and rear bumper, new front grille, 18-inch GR Sport alloy wheels, red brake calipers with GR Branding and a shark fin antenna. Colour options which are exclusive to the GR Sport Hilux includes Crimson Spark Red, Attitude Black Mica and Super White.

Moving inside, the Hilux GR Sport comes with GR graphics on the instrument cluster, aluminium sports pedals, seats wrapped in suede and leather with a GR emblem, GR branded keys and push-start button. The Hilux GR Sport also features illuminated entry system including by the footwell. 

Standard items include a nine-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 4.2-inch TFT instrument cluster display, six speakers and dual zone air conditioning. On the safety front, the GR Sport Hilux comes with seven airbags, rear cross-traffic alert, blindspot monitor, and the Toyota Safety Sense system featuring dynamic radar cruise control, pre-collision braking, lane departure warning and downhill assist control.
