Video: 2023 Toyota Vios 1.5 G, the new benchmark for B-segment saloons

After about 10 years of the third-generation Toyota Vios, the all-new 2023 Toyota Vios is finally here, being built on an all-new platform. There are only two variants of the Vios now, namely the ‘E’ and the ‘G’, and prices start at RM89,600. For the range-topping G variant, you’d have to fork out RM95,500.

The Vios is now larger and sits on a set of large 17-inch alloy wheels for the G variant. The E variant sits on a set of 16-inch wheels. Despite the larger footprint, the 2023 Toyota Vios weighs only a bit over a tonne, making it sound like a fun car to drive. Is it really though? Well, watch our video review to find out.

Powering the Vios is still a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine that actually makes a bit less power than its predecessor. Tuned for better fuel efficiency, the all-new Vios’s engine churns out 106 hp and 138 Nm. It is 1 hp and 2 Nm down from its predecessor but is able to record a fuel consumption rate of 5.2 l/100km.

Inside, the Vios comes with a 9-inch head unit that supports both wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. The unit also comes with a 360° view which makes parking a breeze. The G variant gets a full 7-inch digital instrument cluster while the E variant gets a 4.2-inch version. A standard item in the cabin is a front Digital Video Recorder (DVR).

The G variant adds on Adaptive Cruise Contol (ACC), Auto High Beam (AHB), and Lane Keeping Control (LKC).
