Toyota Yaris Cross now open for booking in Malaysia – prices reportedly start from RM100k

UMW Toyota has announced that the new Toyota Yaris Cross is now open for booking in Malaysia. While official pricing remains under wraps, a price list obtained from a dealer suggests the Yaris Cross will arrive in two variants: Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5 S and the Toyota Yaris Cross 1.5 S HEV, with estimated prices of RM99,900 and RM109,900, respectively.

The company remains tight-lipped on the full specifications. However, a brochure suggests the Yaris Cross Hybrid is equipped with a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen featuring Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 18-inch alloy wheels, and adaptive cruise control. The kit also includes ambient lighting, a 7-inch TFT digital speedometer, EV mode, automatic high-beam, and a wireless charging pad.

Likewise, powertrain specifications have not been officially disclosed, but the petrol variant will likely mirror the setup found in its cousin, the Perodua Traz. This features a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine producing 106 hp and 138 Nm, paired with a D-CVT gearbox driving the front wheels.

The hybrid variant pairs a 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing 91 hp/121 Nm with a traction motor delivering 80 hp/141 Nm. The combined system output stands at 111 hp, with drive sent exclusively to the front wheels via an eCVT. This powertrain is capable of regenerative braking to capture energy during deceleration, helping it achieve a claimed fuel consumption of 27.8 km/l according to the brochure.

Five exterior colours are available for the Toyota Yaris Cross Hybrid, including Dark Turquoise, Silver Metallic, Attitude Black, Spicy Scarlet SE, and Platinum Pearl White. The latter colour commands a premium of RM400, though it is currently unknown if the non-hybrid variant will receive the same colour palette.
