UMW Toyota Motor has launched the updated version of the Corolla, now dubbed the 2023 Toyota Corolla together with a new GR Sport variant to go with it. With the GR Sport version, there are now 3 variants of the Toyota Corolla with prices starting at RM139,800.
The base version of the updated Toyota Corolla is the 1.8 E which costs RM139,800. A step above it is the 1.8 G which costs RM147,800 and at the top of the range is the GR Sport which costs RM152,800. Yes, prices of the Corolla are also now higher, just like most other models in the market. It may not look like it at first sight, but the Toyota Corolla has been updated for 2023. Among the updates are a new grille and a new fully digital instrument cluster. What else has changed on the 2023 Corolla? You’ll have to watch our video to find out.
The powertrain has been carried over from its predecessor which means you still get the same 1.8-litre naturally aspirated 4-cylinder engine in the 2023 Toyota Corolla. The engine outputs a maximum 139 hp (metric) at 6,400 rpm and 172 Nm at 4,000 rpm. Paired with the engine is the same continuously variable transmission (CVT) with 7 virtual gears. The powertrain is standard for all the variants including the range-topping GR-S.
Perhaps the most interesting thing about the 2023 Toyota Corolla would be the new GR Sport variant which costs an additional RM5,000 over the 1.8 G variant. The Corolla GR Sport has been given the GR Sport treatment to its suspension which means it should drive a little sportier. Naturally with the GR Sport name, the Corolla GR Sport gets exterior enhancements like the GR Sport bumpers, 18-inch wheels, and black side mirrors. Inside it gets red stitching, GR emblems, and red trims.
