GWM Malaysia recently announced that the Haval H6 HEV is now one of the “leading hybrid choice for Malaysian drivers”. A cursory check via JPJ open data has revealed that the Chinese hybrid SUV is indeed placed in second place based on year-to-date sales figures as of May 2025, coming in just behind the Toyota Corolla Cross, and above the Honda HR-V e:HEV.
In celebrating the achievement, the company has now introduced a “limited-time promotion” for the GWM Haval H6 HEV, offering RM6,600 in savings (discounts and five-year free service package), alongside an enhanced 10-year HEV battery warranty. As a “commitment to customer loyalty and long-term peace of mind”, the extended warranty will also be offering to existing GWM Haval H6 HEV owners.
The GWM Haval H6 HEV was launched in Malaysia late last year, with a sticker price of RM139,800. While it benchmarks against the Toyota Corolla Cross and Honda HR-V in the standings, the Haval H6 is actually a C-segment SUV, more comparable in size to the Honda CR-V and Proton X70.
Its key selling point, though, is of course the hybrid powertrain. Underneath the bonnet, you’ll find a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with a Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT) and a 1.69 kWh battery pack for a combined system output of 243 hp and 530 Nm.

The hybrid system automatically switches between series and parallel hybrid modes, or even pure electric drive depending on the situation. While the company did not officially quote a total driving range, the GWM Haval H6 HEV was recently proven in ASEAN Records for the “first hybrid SUV in ASEAN to achieve the longest verified real-world driving distance” of 1,242 km.
During the feat, some 38 Haval H6 HEV also successfully crossed the 1,000 km mark, thus earning the hybrid SUV an additional “most verified owners exceeding 1,000 km” record.
The Haval H6 HEV’s success has helped contribute to GWM Malaysia’s record-breaking performance in the first half of the year, where it surpassed its total sales figure for the entire year of 2024 in just six months.
Moving forward, the company has confirmed that it will be introducing two new models in the country, while also expanding its retail footprint to 35 outlets by the end of 2025.
