GWM Malaysia has officially launched the new GWM Tank 300 HEV, priced at RM259,800, on-the-road, without insurance. For comparison, the new hybrid variant of the Tank 300 is RM9,800 more expensive than the non-hybrid variant, which is priced at RM250,000.

Under the bonnet, the GWM Tank HEV utilises a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 245 hp/380 Nm. This is coupled with a nine-speed automatic hybrid transmission, which includes a traction motor that adds an extra 106 hp and 268 Nm, all powered by a 1.67 kWh battery pack.
Together, the powertrain delivers a combined output of 346 hp and 648 Nm to the four-wheel drive (4WD) system, allowing 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds and a top speed of 180 km/h.
Compared to the non-hybrid Tank 300, which uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged inline-four petrol engine producing 220 hp and 380 Nm, the hybrid variant is 126 hp and 268 Nm more powerful.
It boasts the same off-road capabilities as its non-hybrid counterpart, featuring six drive modes: Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow, Mud, Sand, and 4L. It also includes tank turn assist and crawl control, with approach, breakover, and departure angles all rated at 33 degrees, 23 degrees, and 34 degrees, respectively, matching the non-hybrid version. Its ground clearance measures 224 mm.
Apart from the powertrain, the Tank 300 HEV’s exterior is mostly identical to the non-hybrid version, with the exception of the hybrid model, which features smaller 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in all-terrain (AT) tyres. Other exterior equipment on the GWM Tank 300 HEV includes:
- Automatic LED headlights with follow-me-home function and automatic high beam
- LED daytime running lights (DRLs)
- Front and rear LED fog lamps
- Side mirrors in black textured with integrated turn signals
- LED tailights
- Fixed side-steps
- Automatic rain-sensing windshield wipers

The interior of the GWM Tank 300 HEV features specific equipment differences when compared to the non-hybrid variant. The hybrid model supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, whereas the non-hybrid variant requires a wired connection.
Furthermore, the hybrid variant includes auto up-and-down functionality, jam protection, and an auto-close feature for all windows. In contrast, the non-hybrid variant restricts the auto up-and-down and jam protection features to the driver window only.
Another exclusive feature of the Tank 300 HEV is the fully automatic parking assist system, which detects and executes parking manoeuvres automatically with minimal driver input. Additionally, the hybrid variant features smart app connectivity to remotely monitor vehicle status, including doors, windows, tyres, location, fuel, and battery levels. This application also allows users to remotely control key vehicle functions, such as the air conditioning, seat ventilation, and sunroof.

For safety, the GWM Tank 300 HEV comes with six airbags, while the non-hybrid version has seven, with the hybrid model omitting the far-side airbag. Another difference is that the rear outer seatbelts in the hybrid model feature both pre-tensioners and load limiters, whereas the non-hybrid version only has load limiters. The Tank 300 HEV has a suite of hybrid features, which include:
