The 2026 Volkswagen Tayron will be offered exclusively as a seven-seater here in Malaysia with a 2-3-2 seating layout.  The car measures 4,792 mm long, 1,853 mm wide, 1,668 mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2,791 mm. Compared to the Tiguan Allspace, it is 253 mm longer, 11 mm wider and 29 mm taller, while its wheelbase is extended by 114 mm.

The Volkswagen Tayron adopts much of the brand’s latest design philosophy, giving it the appearance of a more mature and stoic Volkswagen Tiguan. Its lighting signature is sleeker, while more pronounced rear haunches and squared-off wheel arches lend the SUV a more muscular stance. Combined with its larger dimensions, the Tayron has a noticeably more mature and upmarket presence than the outgoing Tiguan Allspace. Standard exterior equipment is as follows:

  • LED Plus Headlights
  • Dynamic Headlight Range Control with Dynamic Cornering & Poor Weather Lights
  • 3D LED Taillights

Inside, the Volkswagen Tayron shares much of its cabin with the recently updated Mk8.5 Volkswagen Golf, including the brand’s latest infotainment system and improved ergonomics. This includes the return of physical steering wheel buttons, along with an illuminated touch bar below the central infotainment touchscreen. Taking advantage of the additional room, the Tayron features a more upright dashboard design, along with added luxuries such as a comprehensive interior lighting system and unique panel trims. The 2026 Volkswagen Tayron Elegance launches with a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder eTSI 48-volt mild-hybrid powertrain, similar to the one found in the Volkswagen Golf R-Line here in Malaysia. Just like the hatchback, it generates 150 hp and 250 Nm of torque to the front wheels only (FWD) via a seven-speed dual-clutch (DSG) automatic transmission. This allows for a 0-100 km/h sprint in 9.6 seconds, with a WLTP-rated fuel consumption rating of 6.1 litres per 100 km.

The R-Line variant, which is set to arrive at a later date, will be powered by a more potent 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 265 hp and 400 Nm of torque. Paired with Volkswagen’s 4Motion all-wheel-drive system, it completes the century sprint in just 6.1 seconds. The added performance comes with a slight trade-off in efficiency, with a WLTP-rated fuel consumption of 8.5 litres per 100 km.
