Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia have announced through a Facebook post that the Jaecoo J8 SUV will be officially launching on 18th July. Previewed earlier in March this year, the car will come in front-wheel-drive (FWD) and all-wheel-drive (AWD) variants and will start at an estimated price of RM195,000.
The Jaecoo J8 is a D-segment SUV that will sit at the top of Omoda and Jaecoo’s line-up. Measuring at 4.82 metres long, 1.93 metres wide, and 1.71 metres tall, with a wheelbase of 2.82 metres, it competes with cars such as the Mazda CX-8, Proton X90, Kia Sorento, and the recently launched all-new Hyundai Santa Fe. The interior will be offered in five- and six-seater configurations—the latter available exclusively in the AWD variant with a 2-2-2 seating layout.
Speaking of the interior, it features dual 12.3-inch displays—one for the central infotainment system and another for the digital instrument cluster. As standard, the car comes equipped with a 540-degree surround view camera, faux leather upholstery, and a 12-speaker Sony sound system. The dearer AWD variant, on the other hand, is upgraded with a 14-speaker Sony system with headrest speakers, powered doors, and a fragrance system.
The flagship AWD variant also features a ventilated driver’s seat, built-in digital video recorder (DVR), NFC (Near Field Communication) for key card entry, and a Continuous Damping Control (CDC) suspension system.

Both variants of the Jaecoo J8 will be powered by the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 249 hp and 385 Nm of torque. Jaecoo boasts that the AWD variant can sprint from 0-100km/h in nine seconds with a top speed of 200 km/h.
During the preview, Jaecoo also announced that the J8 will be available in three colours, which include: Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and Olive Grey. The AWD variant will be available in the same colours but with a black-out roof for a two-tone effect.
