UMW Toyota Motor has published its sales report for August 2023, where it recorded a total of 10,275 vehicles sold, comprising 10,033 units for Toyota and 242 units for Lexus. The figure represents a year-on-year growth of 13% over the 9,091 units sold in August last year.
Year-to-date sales figure for UMW Toyota Motor is now at 67,283 units – a 9.2% increased compared to the 61,639 units it sold in the first eight months of 2022. Toyota was crowned the title for best-selling non-national brand in Malaysia last year, and it looks set to continue the trend in 2023.
In an effort to maintain its sales momentum, the company recently unveiled a slew of new models across both of its brands, including the updated 2023 Toyota Corolla facelift, Corolla GR Sport, as well as the 2023 Lexus RX 500h F Sport.
The Hilux, Fortuner, and Innova models, forming the company’s International Multi-Purpose Vehicle (IMV) line-up, also received updates in September. Most notably, the Hilux GR Sport was given a power bump to its existing 2.8-litre turbodiesel mill, bringing its outputs up to 224 hp and 550 Nm of torque – the highest in its class. The Tailgate Assist is also now a standard feature for the Hilux GR Sport, Rogue, and 2.4V variants.
Commenting on the company’s monthly performance, UMW Toyota Motor president Datuk Ravindran K. said, “In line with Toyota’s overarching vision to ’Move Your World’, we have maintained and strengthened our commitment to meet diverse customer needs by offering car models with features that resonate deeply with our Malaysian customers. In this, we are expanding our portfolio with vehicles that enrich the driving experience in every way.”
