This all-black Hyundai Sonata N Line Night Edition looks lit!

Having blacked-out emblems seem to be a trend in the USA now that dealers are also trying to profit from. Earlier this year, the humble Toyota Prius was also treated to the black-emblem treatment.

Hyundai USA has just started offering the Sonata N Line decked with the Night Edition kit. In this Phantom Black paintwork, the large sedan actually looks amazing with the Night Edition treatment! Key to the balanced transformation is perhaps the application of dark chrome tint on the Hyundai emblems, rather than full gloss black, bringing out some depth and contrast.

First appeared as one of the hero’s vehicles in the action movie “Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins”, the Hyundai Sonata N Line Night Edition features a set of dark chrome coated ‘Hyundai’ and ‘Sonata’ emblems, matte black 19-inch wheels, rear spoiler and rim centre caps made from carbon-fibre material (CFRP) and finished with bright red brake calipers. The package is a USD1,300 upgrade over the regular Sonata N Line.

No changes are made to the powertrain, with the Hyundai Sonata N Line fitted with a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine pushing out a healthy 290 hp and 422 Nm of torque. Drive is sent exclusively to the front wheels via an 8-speed N Wet Dual-Clutch Transmission.

Instead of dark chrome, the new Hyundai Staria in Indonesia has bronze highlights! Check it out here!

Inside, the Hyundai Sonata N Line features unique N sport front seats with Nappa leather and Dinamica microfibre combination material, N sport steering wheel, sports pedals, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and Bose premium audio system with 12 speakers.

Hyundai USA will only be limiting the production of the Sonata N Line Night Edition to just 1,000 units, with prices starting from US$34,750 (approx. RM145k). White paintwork is also available for the Sonata N Line Night Edition, where the door handles and side mirror caps are replaced from matte black to white.

Closer to home, Hyundai Sime Darby Motors (HSDM) recently debuted the first N Line model in Malaysia with the launch of the facelifted Hyundai Kona N Line 1.6 Turbo. Last year, HSDM launched the all-new 8th generation Sonata sedan in just a single variant, the G2.5, priced from RM189,888.

BMW has also joined in the ‘black and red’ highlights editions. Take a look at the Black Vermilion package on the large SAVs here.
