Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY) has launched the all-new Hyundai Ioniq 5 N locally during KLIMS 2026. The enthusiast EV can be yours, priced at RM443,888, on-the-road, without insurance as a fully-imported (CBU) model.
Powering the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is a dual-motor powertrain that produces 609 hp (448 kW) and 740 Nm of torque under normal conditions, output that temporarily increases to 650 hp (478 kW) and 770 Nm when the “N Grin Boost” feature is engaged for 10 seconds. This surge enables a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.4 seconds before reaching a top speed of 260 km/h.
These two traction motors are juiced by an 84 kWh battery, offering a range of 448 km (WLTP). Charging is supported via 10.5 kW AC charging, which takes 7 hours and 35 minutes for a 10-100% charge, while a 350 kW DC fast charger can replenish the battery from 10-80% in 18 minutes.
Unlike a traditional EV, the Ioniq 5 N is equipped with the N e-Shift virtual shift control that simulates an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). This works in tandem with the N Active Sound+ system, which replicates pops and bangs to simulate the sensation of a petrol engine under the bonnet.
There’s also the N Drift Optimiser, a dedicated driving mode that helps drivers maintain a consistent drift angle. At the touch of a button, the feature essentially transforms the driver into a professional tyre shredder for instant sideways thrill. Other N-specific features found on the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N include:
- N Launch Control
- N Battery System
- N Pedal
- N Brake Regen regenerative braking
- N e-Shift
- N Active Sound+
- N Drift Optimiser
- N Grin Boost
- N Torque Distribution
- e-LSD (electronic limited-slip differential)

Unlike the normal Ioniq 5, the Ioniq 5 N immediately lets you know it is a performance EV with its aggressive body kit. The exterior features a prominent front intake with functional air vents to cool the braking system, which consists of four-piston front callipers and high-friction pads. It also rides on 21-inch forged alloy wheels wrapped in sticky Pirelli P-Zero tyres, whilst a bespoke rear spoiler generates additional downforce for improved grip.
Inside, you are held firmly by N bucket seats upholstered in a combination of Alcantara and leather. The bespoke N leather steering wheel features a striking red N Grin Boost button, blue Drive Mode buttons, and integrated gear shift paddles. You control the Ioniq 5 N via a set of optimised sport pedals designed to reduce foot slippage, whilst the centre console is tailored for track driving with integrated knee pads and shin support.
Apart from these toys for the driver, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is equipped with a 12.3-inch infotainment display featuring wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, alongside a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. The performance EV also supports the Hyundai Digital Key, which allows you to use your smartphone or Apple Watch to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle. If you are feeling generous, this digital access can be shared with up to 15 other devices.
To keep you safe, the Ioniq 5 N is equipped with the marque’s Hyundai SmartSense of ADAS systems, which includes forward collision-avoidance assist with junction turning, lane following assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, high beam assist, navigation-based smart cruise control, and highway driving assist 2.
Complementing the choice of glossy or matte exterior paint finishes—which range from Atlas White and Performance Blue to the deeper tones of Abyss Black Pearl and Soultronic Orange Pearl—the interior adopts a focused, monotone black theme. This dark cabin features Performance Blue accents, featuring bucket seats upholstered in a tactile mix of Alcantara suede and natural leather.
