2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 N launched in Malaysia – EV sports sedan with 650 hp, 0-100 km/h in 3.2 s, from RM449k

Hyundai Motor Malaysia (HMY), alongside the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, has launched the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 N electric (EV) performance sedan from RM449,888 on the road and without insurance.

With its underpinnings mostly shared with the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, it features a similar setup as well. Under conventional driving scenarios, the 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 N features dual electric motors producing a total of 609 hp (448 kW) and 740 Nm of torque to all four wheels (AWD). Engage the “N Grin Boost” via a button on the steering wheel, and the figures jump to 650 hp (478 kW) and 770 Nm of torque temporarily for 10 seconds.

Powering the dual-motor setup is an 84 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, providing a WLTP-rated range of 487 km — 39 km more than the Ioniq 5 N, likely thanks to the more aerodynamic profile of the Ioniq 6 N. Charging capabilities include up to 350 kW DC fast charging, enabling a 10-80% top-up in just 18 minutes. AC charging is rated at 10.5 kW, requiring 7 hours and 35 minutes for a 10-100% charge.

As with the Ioniq 5 N, the Ioniq 6 N comes equipped with Hyundai’s innovative N e-Shift virtual gearshift system. Working alongside the N Active Sound+ feature, it mimics the sensation of an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), complete with simulated revs, pops and bangs to deliver an experience similar to a high-performance internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle.

One of the car’s biggest selling points is also its N Drift Optimiser — a dedicated mode that turns anyone into Keichi Tsuchiya by assisting the driver by intelligently maintain the drift angle by responding in real-time. Once the drift is done, the front motors automatically re-engage, allowing for seamless full acceleration upon corner exit. Other N-specific features exclusive to the Hyundai Ioniq 6 N include:

  • N Launch Control
  • N Battery System
  • N Pedal
  • N Brake Regen regenerative braking
  • N e-Shift
  • N Active Sound+
  • N Drift Optimiser
  • N Grin Boost
  • N Torque Distribution
  • e-LSD (electronic limited-slip differential)

To cope with the demands of its high-performance powertrain, Hyundai has extensively reinforced the Ioniq 6 N’s chassis. The company says an additional 44 weld points and 340 mm of structural adhesive have been added throughout the body, improving steering response, reducing body vibrations, and enhancing both handling and ride comfort.

Further strengthening measures include a reinforced cowl cross bar, new subframe mounts that increase torsional rigidity by 19.8%, and a high-rigidity underbody brace designed to better support suspension loads. Hyundai has also reinforced the rear wheel housings, increasing shock absorber input rigidity by 15.7%.

Complementing its impressive performance is an equally aggressive exterior package. The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 6 N receives redesigned front and rear bumpers, wider fenders, and sportier side skirts — the latter highlighted by Hyundai N’s signature red pinstripe.

The car sits on blacked-out five-twin-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero 5 tyres, with red four-piston brake callipers adding a tasteful splash of contrast. Despite the addition of vents and wings for performance purposes, the car still maintains an impressive drag coefficient of 0.27 Cd.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is available in an array of Matte and Metallic colours. This includes Nocturne Grey Matte, Gravity Gold Matte, Abyss Black Pearl, Nocturne Grey Metallic, Serenity White Pearl, and arguably the most iconic, Performance Blue Pearl. Opting for the Matte colours will set you back an additional RM3,000.

The performance-focused upgrades continue inside, where the Ioniq 6 N receives a range of N-exclusive touches. These include new Alcantara and leather N bucket seats, as well as a redesigned N steering wheel featuring programmable controls and the signature red N Grin Boost button. Hyundai has also revised the pedal layout for improved foot contact during track use, reducing the likelihood of slippage when driving at the limit.

Performance additions aside, Hyundai Ioniq 6 N doesn’t skimp on technology. The cabin features Hyundai’s dual 12.3-inch display setup, consisting of a digital instrument cluster and infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support. Spot the flanks of the dashboard, and you’ll see a pair of screens serving as the digital side mirrors. Also included is Hyundai Digital Key 2, which enables owners to lock, unlock and start the vehicle using a compatible smartphone or Apple Watch. Access can also be shared with up to 15 additional devices.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 N is equipped with Hyundai’s SmartSense suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), which includes forward collision-avoidance assist with junction turning, lane following assist, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic collision-avoidance assist, high beam assist, navigation-based smart cruise control, and highway driving assist 2.

Included in its RM449,888 on-the-road price, without insurance, is an eight-year/160,000 km warranty covering both the vehicle and its battery pack. To commemorate its launch, HMY is also offering a limited-time launch package comprising a complimentary AC wallbox charger or RM1,800 worth of JOMCharge credit, exclusive N lifestyle merchandise worth up to RM2,000, as well as access to the N Finance+ programme with interest rates from as low as 1.97%.
