Kia Sales Malaysia has unveiled the Kia K4 locally at KLIMS 2026, alongside displaying several models at its booth, which include the fully-electric EV4, EV5, and PV5. The K4 on display could one day be introduced locally as the spiritual successor to the Kia Forte, which was previously sold here.
Measuring 4,710 mm long, 1,850 mm wide, 1,425 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,720 mm, the K4 is comparable in size to the C-segment Honda Civic and Mazda 3. Like these two cars, it is available in both sedan and hatchback body styles, though the unit showcased here is a sedan.
Featuring Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy, the K4 looks like nothing else on the road in this segment. It features Star Map Signature Lighting inspired by the Kia EV9, alongside hidden rear door handles integrated into the C-pillar to give it a sporty stance.
However, if you follow the body lines to the rear, you may find the K4 sedan quite oddly proportioned. Its roofline ends abruptly, creating a rather awkward profile when viewed from the side and mimicking the same sort of sedan-fastback look found on the old Proton Wira Aeroback.

The hatchback variant solves this awkward look by appearing more proportionate and sportier with its fastback profile, but it remains to be seen if Kia Malaysia plans on bringing that variant into the country.
While the interior of the Kia K4 on display remains inaccessible, the cabin features an integrated panoramic display consisting of a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a five-inch climate display, and a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen. Other features include wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats, and 60:40 split-folding rear seats.
Under the bonnet, the Kia K4 on display here is configured as a GT-Line variant, which features a 1.6-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine making 193 hp and 265 Nm. Detailed powertrain specifications were not released, but the chassis consists of a McPherson strut front suspension and a multi-link rear suspension, riding on 18-inch alloy wheels.
Globally, this turbocharged powerplant is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that drives the front wheels, though a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine producing 150 hp and 180 Nm paired with a CVT gearbox is also available.
It remains to be seen what Kia Sales Malaysia plans to do with the Kia K4. However, considering the local history of the Forte and Cerato, a spiritual successor would make perfect sense alongside the Sportage and Carnival, which have anchored the brand since its establishment as a national sales company.
If the K4 is indeed earmarked for Malaysia, the real question is whether we will get both body styles or be restricted to just one. While design is always entirely subjective, the sedan version does appear a bit visually challenged from the side profile, whereas the hatchback is an absolute looker. We can only hope Kia Malaysia brings both variants to our shores and lets buyers choose for themselves, but until then, which one would you realistically want?
