Aside from launching the new Proton eMAS 7 Premium Plus (stylised as e.MAS 7) at KLIMS 2026, the national brand also previewed a special X50 sporting an aggressive body kit and blacked-out bits, strongly suggesting a new Sport Edition is on the horizon. Before you get keen on visiting our Grab a Deal page, the bad news is that you cannot place an order, because this kitted-up special X50 is strictly a show car for now.
Proton did not provide any official information, so everything is based on what we can observe for now, and immediately, the X50 Sport Edition appears to be based on the Flagship variant, which currently retails for RM113,300. It appears to have the same Quartz Black paint job, but the application here sees more blacked out parts, which now sees the 18-inch alloy wheels finished in the same colour.
Also new is an aggressive body kit. The Proton X50 Sport Edition features a sharper front lip with endplates, whereas the rear diffuser gets a similar treatment. This setup is reminiscent of the Proton S70 MC1, though implemented with more subtle red accents.
The interior remains strictly off-limits, but we expect the unchanged setup found on the Flagship variant, with its dual-tone leatherette upholstery, central 14.6-inch infotainment touchscreen, and 8.88-inch letterbox-style digital instrument cluster.
There is a chance Proton might include red highlights, similar to those in the Iriz Active’s interior. This could include sporty AMG-style red seatbelts, red stitching on the upholstery, an embossed variant logo, and red interior trims, but that remains to be seen.

Despite the moniker, expect the powertrain of this Proton X50 to remain unchanged. The 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine produces 181 hp and 290 Nm, sent to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT), enabling 10-00 km/h sprint in 7.6 seconds.
For now, we will have to wait and see what Proton has planned for this special Proton X50. Chances are, this is a preview of a limited-edition variant for the latest X50, much like the 1,000-unit special runs offered previously.
