At the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has previewed the fourth-generation Nissan X-Trail e-Power e-4orce ahead of its Malaysian launch in Q4 2026. Notably, the example on display is the facelifted model that made its market debut globally late last year, making Malaysia the first market in the region to showcase it.
Indonesia and Thailand have yet to receive the updated model, with Thailand only introducing the pre-facelift Nissan X-Trail late last year despite the current generation having been around for almost six years. So, what sets this facelifted version apart?
Starting at the front, the most obvious change is the redesigned V-Motion grille. Gone is the previous design that somewhat resembled a chemistry-class basin diagram, replaced by a more cohesive pattern of dashes and horizontal slats. While the split-headlight arrangement remains, a new accent trim now links the side intake to the lower grille, which itself has also been made more prominent.
Along the sides, the X-Trail gains new gloss-black trim pieces and rides on a fresh set of 19-inch dual-tone alloy wheels. At the rear, changes are more subtle, with the bumper now featuring a more contrasting gloss-black and chrome finish while the rest of the design remains largely unchanged.

Inside, the changes are relatively minor. The X-Trail retains its dual 12.3-inch displays comprising a digital instrument cluster and a central infotainment touchscreen. The latter supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, while now also featuring Google Built-in. Meanwhile, the steering wheel receives a redesigned airbag cover, swapping the previous circular design for a seemingly diamond-shaped cover.
While overseas variants are available with quilted leather upholstery and more intricate stitching patterns, the model displayed here appears to feature a more conventional leather interior. Other comfort features include a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats, and a premium Bose sound system.

Under the bonnet sits a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine. As with all e-Power models, it is a series-hybrid vehicle. The engine does not drive the wheels directly, instead acting as a generator to charge a 1.8-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Featuring Nissan’s e-4ORCE all-wheel-drive system, the battery supplies power to a pair of electric motors (one on each axle) delivering a combined output of 204 hp and 330 Nm of torque.
While ETCM did not mention it, the new Nissan X-Trail should also come equipped with Nissan’s suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) grouped under the Nissan 360 Safety Shield. Looking at the land of smiles, their pre-facelift model comes with safety features such as Intelligent Forward Collision Warning (IFCW), Intelligent Cruise Control (ICC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and more.
