Dongfeng MHero II, 008, and Voyah Dream previewed in Malaysia – possibly coming to Malaysia

With just two days left of the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026, Dongfeng Malaysia has brought out a whole fleet of new energy vehicles (NEV) for preview. This includes the Dongfeng MHero II, 008, and Voyah Dream, all making their first appearances in the country.

Starting off with perhaps the most radical of the bunch, the Dongfeng MHero II is a luxury off-road-focused plug-in hybrid (PHEV) SUV that combines the rugged and boxy themes of all-terrain vehicles with sharp and futuristic detailing that almost makes it cyberpunk-inspired. It’s not small either, measuring 5,100 mm long, 1,998 mm wide, 1,899 mm tall, and with a 3,005 mm wheelbase — similar to cars such as the BMW X5 and the Mercedes-Benz GLE.

Inside, it’s a little less exciting and a lot more conventional. Just like most Chinese cars from the past two years, the Dongfeng MHero II features a letter box-style instrument cluster and is paired with a large tablet-style centre screen — sized 10.25 inches and 15.6 inches respectively. Sat below the centre screen is a row of rugged-looking buttons, while the centre console features an array of storage compartments, wireless charging pads, grab handles, and a digital clock.

Powering the MHero II is a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain comprising a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a pair of electric motors for a total output of 687 hp and 848 Nm of torque, channelled to all four wheels through an all-wheel-drive system. As a result, the SUV is capable of sprinting from 0-100 km/h in just 5.2 seconds.

Energy for the electric drive system is supplied by a sizeable 50.4-kWh battery pack, which delivers up to 215 km of pure-electric range on the CLTC cycle. Under the same test standard, Dongfeng says the MHero II is capable of a combined driving range of up to 1,365 km.

Next is the Dongfeng 008, a luxury three-row six-seater electric vehicle (EV) SUV. Unlike the MHero II, it’s a more conventional and elegant take on the luxury SUV segment, with smooth and rounded surfaces, chrome trims, and classy lights. Similar to the MHero II, however, it’s also rather massive — sized 5,002 mm long, 1,972 mm wide and 1,732 mm tall, with a 3,025 mm wheelbase.

Inside, it’s once again a similar story featuring the same screen setup but made more simplistic for a cleaner and calmer vibe. The second row is where things get a little nicer than the MHero, featuring a pair of captain seats. Notable creature comforts include aeroplane-style fold-out tables, a refrigerator under the centre console, and a roof-mounted screen.

Powering the Dongfeng 008 is a single rear-mounted motor featuring 272 hp and 340 Nm of torque. Supplying power to the electric system is an 82.28 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, allowing for a claimed driving range of 636 km

Lastly, there is the Dongfeng Voyah Dream, a luxury three-row, seven-seater MPV. Offered as both a battery electric vehicle (EV) and a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) internationally, the example on display here is the latter.

Measuring 5,315 mm long, 1,980 mm wide, and 1,820 mm tall, with a 3,200 mm wheelbase, the Voyah Dream competes in the premium MPV segment alongside rivals such as the XPeng X9, Denza D9, and Zeekr 009. As expected of a luxury people mover, it projects a luxurious presence with its imposing front grille, elegant wheel designs, and uninterrupted chrome trim that runs neatly along the window line.

Inside, it’s once again got a very similar setup to the rest of the lineup. But interestingly adds another display for the passenger seat — likely not making it to our market if it ever comes. Providing a more upmarket feel is the presence of open-pore wood trims, more chrome and dual-tone leather upholstery.

The highlight of the Dongfeng Voyah Dream is most certainly the middle row, featuring a pair of eloquent captain seats, smartphone compartments, cupholders, and a screen to control everything from seat adjustments, heating and ventilation, to even closing the sliding doors. Other creature comforts include aeroplane-style fold-out tables, a fridge under the centre console, ambient lighting, electronically retractable window shades, and a 17.3-inch roof-mounted screen for rear passenger entertainment.

Dongfeng has yet to reveal detailed powertrain specifications, but it has confirmed that the Voyah Dream is underpinned by an 800V electrical architecture with support for 5C fast charging. Depending on the battery configuration, the PHEV offers up to 235 km or 350 km of pure electric range, while combined with its 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine allows for as much as 1,500 km of range.

For now, Dongfeng has not explicitly confirmed when these models will be bound for the Malaysian market. However, the company says the preview of these three models reflect its vision of expanding its new energy vehicle (NEV) portfolio in the country. If there is one takeaway from this showcase, it is that Dongfeng appears keen to move further upmarket with its product lineup.
