XPeng at the Beijing Auto Show 2026 has previewed the XPeng GX — the brand’s latest flagship SUV aimed at moving the brand further upmarket than the existing X9. XPeng plans to take this new SUV global and will offer it in a variety of configurations, including a fully electric (EV) version, a range-extended electric (REEV), as well as both left- and right-hand drive versions for various markets.
The XPeng GX measures 5,265mm long, 1,999mm wide, and 1,800mm tall, and with a wheelbase of 3,115mm — sized similarly to other flagship SUVs such as the BMW X7, the Mercedes-Benz GLS, and the Range Rover.
Speaking of the Range Rover, it’s not hard to tell how much inspiration is taken from the English icon. The front sports a smooth and upright design with XPeng’s signature light bar decorated across the top end. Down the sides, once again similar to the English SUV, it’s got a smooth and simplistic look with the windows seamlessly joining on the doors.
At the back, it’s got a nice and sophisticated light bar with a pair of cyan lights — presumably acting as the reverse lights. To round up its looks, the car is available as standard with 21-inch wheels and can be had with up to 22-inches in size, both decorated with floating centre wheel caps.

Further adding to its luxurious feel, fit for the times, it also comes fitted with automatic opening doors (with physical door handles by the way). When the door opens, it also reveals power-deploying side steps, allowing easier entry and exit, while still remaining seamless when not in use.
The windows are double-glazed and are reportedly equipped with the world’s first AI-dimming privacy glass, capable of dimming both the second and third rows. Similar to the windows in the Toyota Century, the system doesn’t turn fully opaque. Instead, it significantly darkens the rear windows — making it difficult for outsiders to peek in while still allowing visibility from the inside.

Inside, the XPeng GX features the brand’s signature wraparound interior, now elevated with a more upmarket touch. Materials such as open-pore wood, supple leather, and suede are generously applied throughout the cabin.
Dominating the dashboard is a massive 17.3-inch 3K display, paired with a slim, letterbox-style instrument cluster. Ahead of that sits a familiar-looking multi-function steering wheel. This time, it gains two additional buttons and introduces steer-by-wire technology — allowing for a turning radius of just 5.2 metres.
As a highlight, the XPeng GX adopts a six-seater 2-2-2 layout with individual captain seats in the second row. Both the front and middle rows are equipped with heating, ventilation, and massage functions, with the front seats also offering a zero-gravity mode.
Other notable features include a wireless charging pad, storage spaces beneath the centre console, USB charging ports, interior lighting, the XOpera sound system, and a large roof-mounted screen.
As mentioned, the XPeng GX will be offered as both an EV and a REEV in China. The REEV pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with two electric motors, each producing 282 hp, delivering all-wheel drive. While battery capacity has yet to be disclosed, XPeng claims a pure electric range of up to 430 km and a combined range of 1,585 km under the CLTC cycle.
The fully electric version also features a dual-motor AWD setup, with each motor producing 362 hp. Battery capacity remains undisclosed, but XPeng quotes a CLTC range of up to 750 km, along with rapid charging from 10-80% in just 11 minutes.
Like many luxury Chinese NEVs, the XPeng GX is equipped with a highly powerful computing platform, delivering up to 3,000 TOPS of processing power. The system is said to support up to Level 4 advanced driver assistance and is backed by a comprehensive suite of cameras, radars, and sensors.
The XPeng GX is now open for bookings in China, with prices starting from RMB399,800 (approx. RM232k). For context, the next most expensive model in the lineup, the XPeng X9, starts from RMB309,800 (around RM180k). Given that the X9 is priced from RM280,708 on the road without insurance locally, the GX will likely command a significantly higher price if it makes it to our market. Even so, it remains a fraction of what a comparable European luxury SUV would cost.
