XPeng has recently announced the start of production of the CKD G6 here in Malaysia, and we managed catch a glimpse of the locally assembled EV SUV before deliveries begin, displayed on the sidelines of the groundbreaking ceremony of EP Manufacturing Berhad’s (EPMB) upcoming body paint facility in Melaka.
Deliveries for the CKD XPeng G6 have not begun, as they have yet to receive the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA) certification from the government, according to an EPMB personnel at the event. Nevertheless, the vehicle on display appears to be one of the Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD) Pro variant, and comes with a VIN code beginning with “PN”, as opposed to the “LPX” prefix on the fully imported models.
Specifications for the CKD XPeng G6 should not differ from their recently updated CBU counterparts unveiled late last year, and as such, this configuration should feature the same rear motor with 296 hp (218 kW) and 440 Nm, powered by an 80.8 kWh LFP battery pack for up to 525 km of range (WLTP). In terms of performance, 0-100 km/h is rated at 6.7 seconds, onward to a top speed of 202 km/h.
Thanks to its 800V electrical architecture, the XPeng G6 is able to recharge at up to 451 kW using a DC fast charger, allowing for a 10-80% recharge in just 12 minutes, depending on charger availability of course. On AC, an 11 kW power input will let you recharge from 5-100% in approximately 9.2 hours.

Other standard equipment should include the 20-inch wheels, the panoramic glass roof with electronically retractable sunshades, the massive 15.6-inch central touchscreen paired to a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 16-speaker XOpera surround sound system, dual 50-watt wireless charging pads, double-glazed glass for the windscreen and front windows, as well as Nappa leather upholstery paired to suede headlining.
The CKD XPeng G6 should also come equipped with the full suite of XPilot L2 ADAS systems, which include features such as adaptive cruise control, lane centering assist, active lane change assist, and even remote parking assistance via mobile app and keyfob. However, unlike the new X9 that was launched in Malaysia earlier this month, they still lack XPeng’s advanced Turing processors, and as such will most likely miss out on the VLA 2.0 semi-autonomous driving feature when it is made available here in Malaysia.
Pricing for the XPeng G6 starts at RM159,948 on-the-road and without insurance for the entry-level RWD Standard Range variant, going up to RM180,013 for the RWD Long Range Pro, and RM191,523 for the AWD Performance. Will these change with the switch to local assembly? We’ll have to wait and see, but given that these units have already been building up at EPMB’s stockyard in Melaka, we think it probably won’t be too much longer of a wait.
