During Volvo Cars’ 2024 financial results announcement, in which the Swedish carmaker delivered an increased 763,000 cars last year (up 7.7%), Volvo Cars President and CEO Jim Rowan also revealed that the company will be unveiling five new models in 2025, ahead of even more to come from 2026 onwards.
Volvo will be kicking off 2025 with the launch of the EX30 Cross Country, which is a ruggedised version of the EX30 compact EV crossover, slated for a reveal later today. This will be joined by the ES90, a fully electric counterpart to the S90 sedan, to be built on the SPA2 platform shared with the EX90. The Volvo ES90 is set to be revealed sometime in March.
Rounding up the new launches this year will be a China-specific “Long Range” PHEV (plug-in hybrid) model, although no further details have been shared. The brand-new models will be joined by two product refreshes of its existing models, with one of them likely being the Volvo XC60.

Like its elder brother, the XC90, the Volvo XC60 should also be updated with a redesigned exterior and updated cabin to bring the aging model up to date, as it (likely) continues on sale alongside its fully electric counterpart, the EX60.
On that note, Volvo has announced that the EX60 will be one of five cars planned for launch in 2026. The new fully electric SUV will be built on the new SPA3 platform, which will also be used for two other unnamed models as revealed during the presentation. The first EX60 test mule will be “built and driven” this year.

While the company is forecasting a difficult year ahead in 2025 due to weaker demand from macroeconomic challenges, increased competition particularly in China, and other geopolitical uncertainties, it is hoping that the upcoming product line-up will help propel the company to a strong financial performance in 2026 and beyond.
Closer to home, the carmaker’s local arm, Volvo Car Malaysia, recently announced a record-breaking year when electrified models (EV and PHEV) accounted for 83% of its total sales in 2024. The Volvo EX90 flagship three-row EV SUV is slated to make its introduction in Malaysia soon.
