Today’s barrage of new car launches at the 2024 Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS 2024) continues with the MG Cyberster, which has just made its official introduction here in Malaysia following its preview earlier this year.
Available in a single variant for now, the MG Cyberster is priced at RM319,900 on-the-road and without insurance – more than RM30k cheaper than the initial estimated pricing of RM350,000. With that price, you’ll also be getting a standard seven-year/150,000 km warranty, an eight-year/180,000 km battery warranty, and an eight-year/160,000 km drive system warranty.
The MG Cyberster is powered by a dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup, making a total of 544 hp (400 kW) and 725 Nm of torque. In terms of performance, that’s the century sprint done in 3.2 seconds, onward to a top speed of 201 km/h.
Electric juice is provided by a 77 kWh battery pack, which translates to a WLTP-rated range of 444 km. Charging takes 38 minutes from 10-80% using a DC fast charger, with a max supported capacity of 144 kW. With the on-board 7 kW AC charger, a 10-100% charge will take 10.5 hours.
The MG Cyberster is certainly an attractive little thing. It’s an electric roadster, so it doesn’t need much more to stand out from the crowd – yet it still does, courtesy of its powered scissor doors that opens upwards, and the Union Jack-inspired taillights to tie the roadster back to its British roots, despite now being owned by Chinese carmaker SAIC.
The sharp-looking front end is characterised by the shark nose profile, bookended by the LED headlights. As standard, the MG Cyberster in Malaysia also comes with the 20-inch “Jetstream” seven-spoke alloy wheels.

Inside, the cockpit design separates the driver and passenger compartments into two distinct spaces. The former sees a wraparound cluster behind the steering wheel that houses three displays – a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster that’s flanked by two seven-inch touchscreens that serve infotainment and vehicle control functions.
Another seven-inch touchscreen is located on the centre console, visually tilted towards the driver, to control the dual-zone climate system. Standard interior features include two-tone Nappa leather (black-and-red or grey-and-white), six-way power adjustable sports seats with memory function, a flat-bottomed steering wheel, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, as well as an eight-speaker Bose sound system.
The entire cabin is, of course, covered by a black fabric roof, which folds away and stored neatly behind the seats when not needed.

A full range of driver assistance features comes as standard on the MG Cyberster, with features including autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-go functionality, lane centering assist, blind spot monitor, rear-cross traffic alert with autonomous braking, rear collision warning, and door opening warning.
To further sweeten the deal, buyers of the MG Cyberster can also enjoy one year of unlimited public charging with JomCharge, alongside a complimentary 7 kW wallbox charger as part of the package, although for the latter, installation costs has to be borne by the owner. The MG Cyberster is available in four exterior colours here in Malaysia: Dynamic Red, Camden Grey, Inca Yellow, and English White.
