MG Cyber GTS Concept debuts – Cyberster’s 2+2 coupe twin to launch in 2025?

MG is potentially expanding its electrified sports car offerings with a rumored four-seat variant of the Cyberster electric roadster. Dubbed the MG Cyber GTS, this car was recently showcased at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, sparking speculation about a possible 2025 release.

While official details remain scarce, reports suggest the MG Cyber GTS retains the overall design and proportions of the original Cyberster. The key difference lies in a slightly raised roofline to accommodate additional headroom for rear passengers. This modification transforms the two-seater roadster into a potential 2+2 seater, offering a more practical option for those who desire a touch of extra space in their electric sports car.

The Goodwood showcase did little to shed light on the powertrain or performance specifications of the MG Cyber GTS. However, it’s likely to share some components with the top-of-the-variant Cyberster that comes with a sole dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) powertrain option that pushes out 544 hp (metric) and 725 Nm, enabling the car to perform the century sprint in just 3.2 seconds and achieve a top speed of 200 km/h.

Supplying power to the MG Cyberster is a 77 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, which allows the roadster to travel up to 503 km (NEDC) on a single charge. When the battery runs out of juice, it can be charged via DC charging at a maximum rate of 140 kW, which can juice it up from 10 to 80% in approximately 26 minutes.

The introduction of the MG Cyber GTS concept could be a strategic move by MG to broaden the appeal of their electric sports car. While the Cyberster caters to enthusiasts who prioritize pure driving thrills in a two-seater configuration, the Cyber GTS might attract a wider audience seeking a balance between performance and practicality. This could include those who occasionally need to carry passengers or light cargo.

MG’s decision to potentially introduce the Cyber GTS in 2025 coincides with the 60th anniversary of the iconic MGB GT coupe. This timing suggests a possible homage to MG’s heritage, with the Cyber GTS serving as a modern, electric reinterpretation of the classic four-seater sports car. More information about the MG Cyber GTS, including confirmed specifications, features, and pricing, are likely to be revealed closer to the potential 2025 launch date.
