Video: Another RM100k EV! Dongfeng Box launched in Malaysia

Central Auto Distributors Berhad (CADB), a subsidiary of the Malay Vehicle Importers and Traders Association of Malaysia (Pekema), has unboxed the fully electric Dongfeng Box in Malaysia. It will be offered in two variants: E2 and E3, priced from RM100,700 and RM113,700 on-the road without insurance, respectively.

This competitive pricing places the Dongfeng Box alongside other affordable EVs in Malaysia, such as the BYD Dolphin and the Neta V, making it an attractive option for budget-conscious buyers looking to go electric.

Despite its name, the Dongfeng Box surprises with a cutesy, sleek, and modern design reminiscent of the Honda e, not the boxy proportions of the Honda N-Box.

The exterior features a smooth, pebble-like design with full-width LED headlights and distinctive squircle 3D LED taillights. A floating roof design adds a touch of modernity and helps make the Dongfeng Box look larger than it seems.

Inside the Dongfeng Box, you’ll find a surprisingly spacious and comfortable cabin for a car of its segment. Quilted leatherette lining on the dashboard and door cards creates a homey atmosphere, with a cat avatar on the car’s infotainment system homepage driving that message home.

Both variants of the Dongfeng Box in Malaysia are equipped with the same “Mach-E 10-in-1” motor on the front axle, making 95 hp (70 kW) and 160 Nm, enabling a top speed of 140 km/h.

The Dongfeng Box offers two battery options. The E2 variant has a CLTC-rated 330 km range from a 31.45 kWh battery pack. The E3 variant gets a larger 42.3 kWh pack, increasing its driving range to 430 km (CLTC).

Charging speeds also vary between the variants. For AC charging, the E2 supports up to 3.3 kW, while the E3 goes up to 6.6 kW. Dongfeng claims both variants can be fast-charged from 30% to 80% in just 30 minutes, although they haven’t specified the exact DC charging capacity.

The Dongfeng Box is currently fully imported (CBU) from China and will be priced as follows on-the-road and without insurance:

  • Dongfeng Box E2 – RM100,700
  • Dongfeng Box E3 – RM113,700
  • Dongfeng Box E3 with Floating Cloud (White Roof) – RM115,700

Included in the price is an eight-year/150,000 km battery warranty, alongside a five-year/150,000 km vehicle main parts warranty.

As part of the launch celebrations, CADB is offering early bird customers with special promotional deals worth over RM5,000, which includes a portable charging unit worth RM1,088, complimentary front cabin storage compartment worth RM1,250, and one of the following items per customer’s choice:
