The fully electric Chery Omoda E5 has achieved a full five-star rating from both ASEAN NCAP (New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries) and Euro NCAP (European New Car Assessment Programme).
For ASEAN NCAP, the Chery Omoda E5 scored 87% in adult occupant protection, 88% in child occupant protection, and 83% in safety assist. Similarly, for Euro NCAP, the Omoda E5 scored 87% in adult occupant protection, 87% in child occupant protection, and 88% in safety assist.
Beyond the standard NCAP tests, the Chery Omoda E5 underwent further safety evaluations, including frontal offset and oblique pole crash tests, aimed at evaluating the car overall safety performance and the integrity of its high-voltage battery in challenging collision scenarios.
In terms of safety equipment, the Omoda E5 is equipped with Chery’s suite of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) which includes features such as autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with low-speed follow, front collision warning, and rear cross-traffic alert.

The Chery Omoda E5 is offered in a single variant here in Malaysia, priced at RM146,800 on-the road, without insurance. Powering the Chery Omoda E5 is a single front mounted electric motor, producing 204 hp and 340 Nm, and has a WLTP-rated range of 430 km courtesy of its 61 kWh battery pack.
Included with the Chery Omoda E5’s price tag is a five-year/150,000km vehicle warranty, an eight-year/160,000km battery warranty, and an eight-year/160,000km drive unit warranty which covers the power motor, power motor control unit, power battery management system and the vehicle’s control unit.
Further strengthening its commitment to the Malaysian market, Chery has recently commenced local assembly (CKD) of the Omoda E5 at the Inokom manufacturing facility in Kulim, Kedah.
