NexV Manufacturing to CKD Dongfeng NEVs at Chembong plant – S31 EV to launch in Malaysia?

NexV Manufacturing signed two memorandums with various automotive stakeholders to locally manufacture electric vehicles (EVs). This is taking place just six months after the company initiated its groundbreaking ceremony for its NEV manufacturing plant in Chembong, Negeri Sembilan earlier this year. Among the memorandums signed include memorandums of understanding (MoU) between NexV Manufacturing and two distributors. This is with the intention of assembling brands that include Dongfeng NEVs and Skywell electric buses, and NexV Manufacturing as the Contract Assembler. The two distributors are:

  • Central Auto Distributors Bhd (Dongfeng NEV)
  • Wise Star Assets Sdn Bhd (Electric Bus)

It wasn’t detailed which Dongfeng model(s) will be manufactured at NexV Manufacturing plant’s in Chembong. However, in October last year (2023), Dongfeng Motor Corporation (DFMC) signed an MoU with the Malay Vehicle Importers and Traders Association of Malaysia (Pekema), which will see the Dongfeng S31 EV being brought into Malaysia via locally assembled (CKD) form. However, no date has been given on when that will take place just yet.

The first is a memorandum of agreement (MoA) between NexV Manufacturing and five appointed Tier Zero (T0) vendors. The T0 vendors involved are as follows:

  • PHN Industry Sdn Bhd
  • Hicom Teck See Manufacturing Malaysia Sdn Bhd
  • Noble Star Parts Sdn Bhd
  • Evan Karl Holdings Sdn Bhd
  • KNR Biz Solution Sdn Bhd
