2026 Dongfeng 007 launched in Malaysia – D-seg EV fastback from RM171k, up to 544 hp

Dongfeng Cars Malaysia, through Volt Auto (partners of local distributor Central Auto Distributors Berhad), has launched the 2026 Dongfeng 007 here on our shores. Debuting alongside the Dongfeng Vigo, the new electric D-segment fastback is available in two variants, Premium and Prime (yes, it’s the reverse of Proton’s naming scheme), priced from RM170,848 on the road and without insurance.

  • Dongfeng 007 Premium – RM170,848
  • Dongfeng 007 Prime – RM197,603

The Dongfeng 007 measures 4,880 mm in length, 1,895 mm in width, and 1,465 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,915 mm. Those dimensions are similar to other D-segment electric vehicles (EV), including the BYD Seal, Kia EV6, and Hyundai Ioniq 6.

Like many of its EV rivals, the Dongfeng 007 adopts a fastback body style for a low, sleek stance. Up front is a split-headlight design, with the main light units integrated into the side vents and paired with a distinctive, teeth-like daytime running light (DRL) signature. At the rear, the light signature mirrors this motif and is linked by a full-width lightbar. The look is rounded off with standard 18-inch wheels.

Other exterior equipment for the entry-level Premium variant includes:

  • LED headlights
  • LED DRL
  • Dynamic turn signals with welcome animation
  • LED taillights
  • 18-inch wheels
  • Power retractable side mirrors
  • Electric liftback tailgate
  • painted brake callipers
  • Frameless Doors

The only additional exterior equipment for the Prime variant are the larger 19-inch wheels. Interestingly enough, the more expensive variant doesn’t get the same red-painted brake calliper caps seen on the Premium – possibly for a more discreet appearance.

Four exterior colours are on offer: Eclipse Grey, Obsidian Black, Celestial White, and Starlit Silver. As standard, the car features black-and-white dual-tone upholstery, while the Prime variant is available exclusively with a white-and-grey dual-tone interior.

Inside, the dashboard is dominated by a 15.6-inch central infotainment display, paired with a letterbox-style 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster — the former supporting Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The passenger-side dashboard features an abstract cyber pattern integrated with the ambient lighting system for added contrast. Standard interior equipment for both variants are as follows:

  • 15.6-inch central infotainment display
  • 8.8-inch digital drivers display
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and wired Android Auto
  • Leather-wrapped two-spoke multi-function steering wheel
  • Dual-tone vegan leather upholstery
  • Six-way adjustable driver seat with memory and welcome driver functions
  • Four-way adjustable passenger seat
  • Ventilated driver and passenger seat
  • 19-speaker Wanos sound system with driver seat headrest speakers
  • Ambient lighting
  • Wireless charging pad
  • Panoramic glass roof

Thanks to its fastback shape, the boot space is measured at a generous 452 litres and is expandable to 1,026 litres with the rear seats folded down.

As for powertrains, the range starts with the single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) Premium variant, with 272 hp and 310 Nm of torque on offer, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in 5.8 seconds. Its power is supplied through a 73.48 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, delivering an estimated range of up to 650 km

Stepping up to the Prime adds an extra electric motor at the front axle for Dongfeng’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive system. Combined output jumps to 544 hp and 620 Nm of torque, slashing the 0-100 km/h time to just 3.9 seconds. As it shares the same battery, range here drops to an estimated 565 km. The figures for the range are also based on the more lenient CLTC standard, so expect lower figures in the real-world.

Both variants of the Dongfeng 007 support up to 200 kW DC and 6.6 kW AC charging, with a 3.3 kW of vehicle-to-load (V2L) function also available for drivers to charge household electronics on the go. For now, Dongfeng has yet to disclose detailed charging times, only claiming a rather vague “11-minute fast charge.”

Safety-wise, both variants are equipped with six airbags and a suite of level two advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) features, with the company boasting a five-star C-NCAP safety rating. Standard safety features include:

  • Blind Spot Detection
  • Intelligent Door Opening Warning System (DOW)
  • Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)
  • Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBD)
  • Brake Assist (BA)
  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)
  • Front Collision Warning (FCW)
  • Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RTCA)
  • Lane Departure Warning (LDW)
  • Lane Keep Assist (LKA)
  • Auto Emergency Braking (AEB)
  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)
  • 540-degree surround view camera

Exclusive to the Premium variant is the inclusion of the Driver Monitoring System (DMS).

To recap, the Dongfeng 007 is priced from RM170,848 to RM197,603 on the road and without insurance. Included in the price is a free ABB wall box, a six-year vehicle warranty with unlimited mileage, and an eight-year powertrain warranty with unlimited mileage as well.

To commemorate the launch of the Dongfeng 007, Dongfeng is offering an exclusive launch discount of RM8,888. This brings prices down to RM161,960 for the Premium variant and RM188,715 for the Performance variant. For now, no end date has been announced for the launch campaign, with the discount offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
