Jaecoo Malaysia signs 30 new dealers ahead of official launch next month

Jaecoo Malaysia, Chery’s new sub-brand for premium SUVs, has officiated its partnership with 30 dedicated dealers at a signing ceremony during the 2024 Malaysia Auto Show, ahead of the marque’s official entry into the market later this year.

The 30 dealers will operate a total of 35 dealerships across the central, northern, southern, and east Malaysia regions, and will be responsible for the distribution and after-sales service of Jaecoo models specifically, the company says in a press release.

Jaecoo Malaysia dealerships will be designed with several brand signature features, including a “Super Walkway” to greet customers upon entry, dedicated coffee bar, delivery lounge, as well as a merchandise and product showcase area.

The “strong service network” will be backed by a dedicated auto parts warehouse, as well as a production plant established in Malaysia as part of the Jaecoo Malaysia’s “long-term growth” plan in the nation, the company added.

Speaking at the dealer signing ceremony, Jaecoo Malaysia President, Leo Chen said, “Hand-in-hand with our dealer partners, we are excited to deliver best-in-class vehicles equipped with innovative technology and the absolute best customer experience to the Malaysian market.”

“Our investments encompass an ecosystem of strategically positioned dealers and comprehensive facilities, complemented by a strong team of service advisors and highly skilled technicians. This is the foundation of Jaecoo’s strength and a testament of our readiness to launch in Malaysia,” added Jaecoo Malaysia Vice President, Emily Lek.

The Chinese off-road SUV marque will make its official debut within the first half of 2024 with the Jaecoo J7 SUV, which it has already begun taking orders since April. The Jaecoo J7 will be offered in two variants at launch, with pricing estimated to start at RM150,000 for the front-wheel drive model, and RM160,000 for the all-wheel drive guise.

Both variants will be powered by a 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, sending 197 hp and 290 Nm of torque to the wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. While detailed equipment lists are not available yet, the company has previously confirmed during a media preview earlier this year that it will come equipped with several premium-grade items, including a 14.8-inch infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, Sony sound system, as well as a large panoramic glass roof.

At the Malaysia Auto Show 2024, the company also displayed the Jaecoo J7 in plug-in hybrid guise, alongside the fully-electric Jaecoo J6, both of which have now been confirmed to be making their way into the Malaysian market in the future.
