Omoda C7 PHEV previewed in Malaysia – launching soon with over 1,000 km range?

Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia has previewed the all-new Omoda C7 PHEV locally, hinting at an imminent market debut for the C-segment SUV.

This is not the first outing for the Omoda C7, as the company previously previewed the SUV at the Malaysia Autoshow 2025, although in non-PHEV guise. With similar underpinnings, the Omoda C7 is the mechanical cousin to the Jaecoo J7, with its dimensions placing it between the Chery O5 and the Omoda C9.

Its exterior presents itself with futuristic and minimalist lines, featuring a perforated front grille flanked by slim LED headlights. Towards the side, the C7 PHEV rides on dual-tone 20-inch alloy wheels alongside red brake callipers, while the rear fascia receives taillights with graphics that resemble a thunderbolt.

No local specifications were officially confirmed, but the interior of the Omoda C7 PHEV comes equipped with a 15.6-inch central touchscreen that can be slid over to the front passenger side, whereas the driver is faced with a letterbox-style digital instrument panel.

The Omoda C7 PHEV could share its mechanicals with the Jaecoo J7 PHEV, featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor and a dedicated hybrid transmission that produces a combined 360 hp and 530 Nm of torque.

This setup is paired with an 18.3 kWh LFP Blade battery sourced from BYD, enabling a pure EV range of 95 km and a touted total combined range of 1,250 km.

Charging specifications remain unrevealed locally, but the Omoda C7 PHEV could support the same architecture as its stablemates, with AC charging supported at 6.6 kW and DC fast charging at 40 kW, enabling a 30-80% recharge in 20 minutes.

It remains to be seen how the Omoda C7 PHEV will be priced locally when it makes its eventual market debut. Considering the larger Jaecoo J7 PHEV is priced at RM158,800, we expect the C7 PHEV could land within a similar ballpark. We will just have to wait for the official launch to discover its true sticker price, and we hope the wait won’t be long!
