Jaecoo J7 now open for booking in Malaysia – 2 variants, est. from RM150k

Following its preview event in January, Jaecoo Malaysia has now announced that the J7 is now open for bookings. Malaysia will be the first country in the region to receive the “premium off-road SUV”, with deliveries set to begin in the third quarter of this year.

The Jaecoo J7 will be offered in two variants here in Malaysia: the base Two-Wheel Drive (2WD) option is estimated to start at RM150,000, while the range-topping All-Wheel Drive (AWD) variant is estimated at RM160,000. Customers will have four exterior colours to choose from, namely Moonlight Silver, Carbon Crystal Black, Khaki White, and Model Green.

Both variants of the Jaecoo J7 share the same 1.6-litre turbocharged inline-four engine, making 197 hp and 290 Nm of torque. Power is sent to the wheels (front- or all-wheel drive) via a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The company hasn’t provided detailed specifications breakdown for both variants just yet, but we do know that our Malaysian-spec Jaecoo J7 will come with several premium-grade creature comfort niceties, such as a large 14.8-inch touchscreen infotainment display with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, heated and ventilated powered front seats, a Sony sound system, 50W air-cooled wireless charging pad, a large panoramic glass roof, as well as an extensive list of advanced driver assistance features.

“The public’s consistent interest in anticipation of the J7, following two successful roadshows, have been very encouraging that we are so excited to begin accepting registration of interest,” said Jaecoo Malaysia president, Leo Chen. “We believe Jaecoo Malaysia is bringing diversity to the SUV market, especially with the J7 being a strong challenger in the C-segment SUV market, which consumers in Malaysia appreciate.”

In a press release, the company says that the Jaecoo J7 will be open for test drives from May onwards. In the meantime, prospect customers looking to register their interest can do so via the company’s website (link here), or head on over to the Jaecoo Premier Experience roadshow located at 1Utama Shopping Centre (Level LG, Highstreet).
