The right-hand-drive unit of the range-extender (REEV) variant of the iCaur 03 has officially made its debut in Thailand as the Jaecoo 6T REEV. This regional launch strongly hints at a Malaysian debut in the near future, following a report by a source in the know to AutoBuzz.my confirming that the REEV variant is bound for our shores.
Available in two variants in the Kingdom, the Jaecoo 6T REEV is essentially the widebody model that we will refer to as the iCaur 03T REEV from now onwards, matching its global moniker. Underneath the bonnet sits a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine that produces 156 hp/220 Nm, with its sole purpose being to serve as a generator to charge a 33.6 kWh LFP battery sourced from CATL.
This setup in turn provides juice to either a rear-mounted traction motor making 252 hp, which enables a 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.9 seconds, or an all-wheel-drive (AWD) setup with two traction motors. This dual-motor configuration produces a combined 428 hp and 505 Nm, shortening the century sprint down to 5.5 seconds.
Range-wise, the rear-wheel-drive variant has a pure EV range of 190 km (NEDC) with a combined range of 800 km (NEDC). Stepping up to the AWD setup nets a pure EV range of 160 km (NEDC) and a combined range of 750 km (NEDC).
Both variants support charging with 6.6 kW AC and DC fast charging at 100 kW, the latter enabling a 30-80% top-up in 20 minutes. The iCaur 03T REEV also supports vehicle-to-load (V2L) power delivery at 3.3 kW to run external devices using the SUV’s high-voltage battery pack.

Apart from the powertrain, the iCaur 03T REEV looks almost identical to its fully-electric (EV) sibling, carrying the same boxy, edgy off-roader design with the quirky “i” design motif plastered throughout the exterior. The sole exception is that the REEV variant features front grille cutouts on the front fascia to let the 1.5-litre engine breathe, alongside a slightly altered front bumper design for the front fog lamps.
Likewise, the rear bumper of the REEV variant features a different treatment. The externally mounted storage box drops the “i” logo that was previously placed right in the middle, making way for a new design element installed on the right side of the box.
Expect the iCaur 03T REEV to come with the same interior furnishings as its EV counterpart. The cabin features a 15.6-inch infotainment display and a 9.2-inch letterbox-style digital gauge cluster on the dashboard, alongside massaging and ventilated front seats.
Currently, the iCaur 03 is available solely with an EV powertrain, with one locally-assembled (CKD) variant available, priced at RM129,880. Its powertrain comprises an AWD setup delivering 279 hp (205 kW) and 385 Nm, enabling 0-100 km/h in 6.5 seconds. Equipped with a 69.8 kWh battery, the iCaur 03 has a range of 418 km (NEDC).
