The Bronco lookalike from China, the GWM Tank 300 is now open for bookings in Malaysia, with an estimated price of RM250,000. The rugged-looking SUV is expected to begin deliveries in July 2024, hence its official launch in a fully imported (CBU) guise should be just around the corner.
If this is your first time learning about the GWM Tank 300, it is a mid-sized SUV with design inspiration from cars like the Ford Bronco and Jeep Wrangler. It even has a spare tyre mounted on the tailgate to elevate its off-road-capable appearance. It is also built on a ladder frame chassis like a real SUV and pickup truck.
Powering the GWM Tank 300 is a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 220 hp (metric) and 380 Nm. The engine is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission from ZF and the car has an electronically controlled part-time four-wheel drive (4WD) system.
As for its off-roading capabilities, the Tank 300 can be driven up ramps with angles of up to 23.1° and a maximum gradability of 70%. It also has a water-wading depth of 700 mm.

Inside, the GWM Tank 300 sports a G-Wagon-esque dashboard with its circular vent and squarish trims. Its dashboard layout is near-identical to the G-Wagon’s, living up to the Chinese clone car stereotype. Integrated into the dashboard is a dual-screen setup – one for the head unit and one for the instrument cluster.
In the safety department, the Tank 300 is equipped with items like a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), 360° all-around view with Transparent Chassis Function, Automatic Collision Unlocking and Automatic Collision Fuel Cutoff.
The first 300 GWM TANK 300 bookings will receive a special package from GWM, including a 5-Year/100,000 km free service package inclusive of part and labour, whichever comes first, a lifetime powertrain warranty with unlimited mileage, solely for the first owner, and a mystery gift that will be revealed at the official launch.
