2025 Honda Civic facelift (FE) debuts with Google Built-in, Bose sound system

The 2025 FE Honda Civic facelift has finally been unveiled, upgrading the existing FE generation that we currently have in Malaysia. The American Civic finally welcomes its hybrid e:HEV powertrain and introduces a range-topping new “Sport Touring Hybrid” variant that is available for both sedan and hatchback versions of the car.

The exterior updates have been somewhat unveiled by Honda back in January this year, only revealing the front three quarter shot and a glimpse of the rear end of the car. Even back then, Honda already showcased the new “Sport Touring” badge alongside the smaller “Hybrid” badge on the tailgate of the Honda Civic facelift. With the latest reveal, we get to see both the revised sedan and hatchback version of the Civic.

In case you found the pre-facelift FE Civic not aggressive enough at the front end, the facelift is here to make your day. The grille is now much larger, solving the “swollen forehead” problem on the pre-facelift model. The front bumper has also been revised and it appears to take a lot of inspiration from the BMW 3 Series. The facelift Civic also gets a new set of wheels which appear to be specific for the Sport Touring Hybrid variant.

What’s new for the powertrain is that America finally gets the e:HEV hybrid powertrain for the FE Honda Civic. It is the same hybrid powertrain that we already have in Malaysia which consist of a 2.0L Atkinson cycle engine (143 hp/189 Nm) and an electric drive system (184 hp/315 Nm). The electric motor does most of the driving. For the US market, the hybrid Honda Civic is the most powerful non-Type-R version of the Civic.

Inside, the new 2025 Honda Civic facelift retains the same cabin layout. The significant change on the inside is the new Google Built-In function that it has. This includes features like Google Assistant, Google Maps, and Google Play. For the US-spec Civic, it even gets a complimentary 3-year unlimited data plan.

With the Google Assistant, you can pretty much control the Civic’s functions like you could with a Volvo (which already has Google Built-In). This mean that you can talk to Google to easily call or text a friend, set reminders, or even change the temperature in the car. You could even ask Google to skip to the next media track or rewind a podcast.

Besides Google Built-in, the 2025 Honda Civic facelift also gets a 12-speaker Bose sound system for the “Sport Touring Hybrid” variant. And just to put it out there, even the Malaysian-spec FL5 Honda Civic Type R doesn’t get a Bose sound system (while other regions get it).
