Jaecoo J7 passes off-road & moose tests at M4TREC with flying colours

The Jaecoo J7 SUV has undergone a set of off-road performance tests and has garnered high points for its off-road capability and stable handling at the Malaysia 4WD Training and Experience Centre (M4TREC). To ensure a thorough assessment of the J7, M4TREC’s expert trainers set up a variety of challenging obstacles during testing, including roller ramps, articulation tests, ridge crossings, steep slope descents and so on.

Besides the off-road tests, the Jaecoo J7 also managed to pass the moose test at 80 km/h with flying colours. Aiding the J7 with its performance is the brand’s All Road Drive Intelligent System (ADRIS), as well as the Integrated Power Brake (IPB) system.

Commenting on the Jaecoo J7, an M4TREC certified instructor said, “The J7’s remarkable off-road capabilities have left us astounded, exemplified by its seamless navigation through the rugged and demanding terrains at M4TREC,.”

Just previewed in Malaysia earlier this month, the Jaecoo J7 in Malaysia is fitted with LED headlights, LED rearlights, and a set of 19-inch wheels. Also included are the welcome lights and electric flush door handles.

Powering the Jaecoo J7 is a 1.6-litre turbocharged engine paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). This results in a total of 197 hp (metric) and 290 Nm being sent to all four wheels via the brand’s all-wheel drive (AWD) system.

Inside, the Malaysian market J7 gets equipment such as a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.8-inch infotainment head unit that supports both wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, and a 6-way electric adjustable driver seat that comes with memory, ventilation, heating, and welcome functions.

On the safety front, the Jaecoo J7 in Malaysia is equipped with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) such as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), Traffic Sign Recognition (TSR), Intelligent Active Speed Limiting, Integrated Cruise Assistance, Speed Assistance, and rear collision warning.
