Video: 2023 Mazda 6 with 20th Anniversary Edition, from RM180k



The updated 2023 Mazda 6 has just been launched in Malaysia last week. To celebrate 20 years since the first-generation Mazda 6 which was launched back in 2002, Mazda has also added a new “20th Anniversary Edition” variant at the top of its latest Mazda 6 range.

Offered in three variants, prices for the 2023 Mazda 6 start from RM180,359 for the 2.0L Sedan model. On the outside, the 2023 Mazda 6 looks pretty much similar to its previous iteration.

The entry-level Mazda 6 2.0L sedan variant is fitted with silver 17-inch alloys. The 2.5L Touring variant on the other hand gets larger 19-inch alloys painted in black to match its black grille.

The top-spec 20th Anniversary Edition variant gets additional badges on its front fender, together with 19-inch wheels with a Bright Metallic finish to complement its Gunmetal radiator grille.

Powering the entry-level Mazda 6 2.0L Sedan is a 2.0-litre SkyActiv-G inline-four engine paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission that also comes with paddle shifters behind the steering wheels. This results in a total of 162 hp and 213 Nm delivered to the front wheels only.

The 2.5L Touring and High Plus Sedan 20th Anniversary Edition gets a more powerful 2.5-litre naturally aspirated SkyActiv-G inline-four engine, The mill makes 192 hp and 258 Nm, sending power to the front wheels only.

Inside, the entry-level and mid-spec Mazda 6 variants both get black and burgundy leather upholstery. The 20th Anniversary Edition gets tan-coloured leather seats, along with the eponymous logo embossed onto the front seat headrests.

Additionally, the 20th Anniversary Edition also get extra kits such as a new seven-inch multi-info display in the instrument cluster, rear window sunshade, and seat ventilation for the front-powered seats. These features are all exclusive to the top-spec variant only.

Other equipment exclusive to the Mazda 6 2.5L variants are the head-up display, Bose 11-speaker sound system powered sunroof, and 360-degree surround view monitor. Standard interior equipment includes a new Qi mobile phone wireless charger and an 8.0-inch touchscreen head unit with wireless Apple CarPlay support.

Safety-wise, the 2.5L variants get the Mazda i-Activesense advanced driver assistance (ADAS) suite. This includes features such as front and rear autonomous emergency braking, Mazda Radar Cruise Control (MRCC) with stop-and-go functionality, as well as Cruising & Traffic Support (CTS).
