PSA: Check if your car is under active recall – 8,773 cars including Mercedes-Benz, Kia, Ford models

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has published its latest list of active vehicle product recalls in Malaysia, the second of such this year. The latest list involves some 11,210 vehicles, consisting of 8,773 cars and 2,437 motorcycles – the former including models from Mercedes-Benz, Ford, and Kia.

Vehicles involved in the latest list of recalls involve some fairly recent models, including the current W206-generation Mercedes-Benz C-Class (manufactured 2021-2022), the C118 Mercedes-Benz CLA 45 S (2022), as well as the latest-generation Ford Ranger and Everest (manufactured 2021-2022).

JPJ did not include the reasons for recalls in its post on Facebook. It does, however, mentions that the recall information is based on the department’s own records. According to the post, the list was published in response to feedback from vehicle manufacturers, who have found difficulty in contacting the relevant vehicle owners in their own product recalls due to the owner’s information not being updated.

The department urges vehicle owners to update their details at authorised service centres and JPJ offices to ensure that they can be contacted should they be involved in a product recall.

A vehicle defect could increase the risk of accidents, and can cause dangers to occupants as well as other road users. If your vehicle is listed above, be sure to contact the manufacturer immediately.
