All-new MINI Countryman teased in Malaysia – to launch at MAS 2024?

BMW Group Malaysia has announced that it will be participating in the Malaysia Autoshow (MAS) 2024, with a teaser poster featuring silhouettes of 10 vehicles the carmaker will be debuting or showcasing at the event. Upon further inspection, you may notice two MINI vehicles, with one of them potentially being the all-new MINI Countryman. Does it mean it will be making its Malaysian market launch at the Autoshow?

Having made its global debut in September 2023, the all-new MINI Countryman is available in five variants, with two of them being all-electric options, and the remaining three being petrol versions. The all-new Countryman is the brand’s first model to feature a fully electric all-wheel drive (AWD) system and is also the first MINI to be made in Germany.

Being larger than ever before, the third-generation MINI Countryman is 60 mm taller and 130 mm longer than its predecessor. It now measures 4,433 mm long, 1,843 mm wide, and 1,656 mm tall.

Take a look at the all-new Countryman, you will notice that it is now more angular than before, featuring polygonal designs on its headlights and front grille. MINI has also developed the all-new Countryman’s looks with a simpler design language for a more “focused” appearance.

Powering the all-electric MINI Countryman E and SE ALL4 variants are single and dual-motor setups respectively. The single-motor setup in the Countryman E puts out 204 hp and 250 Nm, while the dual-motor setup in the more powerful Countryman SE ALL4 produces 313 hp and 494 Nm.

Thanks to a 66.45 kWh battery pack, the MINI Countryman E can travel up to 462 km (WLTP) on a single charge. With the same battery, the Countryman SE ALL4 has a WLTP-rated range of 433 km.

Moving inside the all-new MINI Countryman, you will notice a circular head unit with the screen stretching out to the circle’s edges, which runs on the latest MINI Operating System 9. Interestingly, the crossover does not sport a traditional instrument display. Instead, you can use the head-up display (HUD) to monitor your travelling speed or whatnot.

Currently in Malaysia, the outgoing MINI Countryman is available in four variants. Its prices range from RM260,788 for the “base” MINI Cooper S Countryman all the way to RM401,658 (inclusive of extended warranty and service package) for the performance-oriented John Cooper Works Countryman.

BMW Group Malaysia’s presence at this year’s Malaysia Autoshow is said to be the brand’s largest showing of brand-new vehicles in the country, since its participation at the 2023 Autoshow. In the teaser photo released by the carmaker, two MINI models along with four BMW models can be spotted. Aside from the Countryman, the other MINI model is most likely the all-new Cooper Electric, judging by its silhouette. As for the four BMW models, they could be the all-new iX2, iX1, i5, and the X5.

The German carmaker is offering a series of promotions throughout the month of May as well. This includes a 1-year complimentary BMW Comprehensive Motor Insurance worth RM 5,000 for bookings made and delivered between May 1 and 31, on selected BMW 3 Series, BMW X, and BMW i models.

BMW Financial Services Malaysia is also offering a RM10,000 Easy Cash Drive Rebate for selected model variants. This campaign is valid from May 1 to 31, 2024.

BMW Group Malaysia’s booth at the MAS 2024 will be located in Hall A2 of MAEPS Serdang. Doors of the Autoshow will be open to the public from 10 AM to 10 PM, between May 22 and 26.
