Toyota Camry price increased by RM10k in Malaysia for 2023, Corolla up RM4k

UMW Toyota Motor has just released the updated price list for the Toyota Camry and Corolla sedan here in Malaysia, with both models receiving a price hike effective 3 Jan, 2023.

The Toyota Corolla sees a RM4,000 increase in price on both of its variants, which means that the C-segment sedan is now priced at RM134,888 for the entry-level 1.8E, and RM145,888 for the range-topping 1.8G.

The Toyota Camry meanwhile receives a RM10,000 price hike as compared to its last-published MSRP, now retailing for an eye-watering RM219,800 here in Malaysia effective 2023. All prices listed here are inclusive of the marque’s standard five-year unlimited-mileage warranty.

Despite the price hike, no revisions are being made to the specifications and equipment lists of both cars. The Toyota Corolla in Malaysia was last updated in June 2020 with a larger and more feature-complete central infotainment display, while the Camry was given a more thorough refresh early last year, boasting a new 2.5-litre Dynamic Force naturally-aspirated inline-four engine, alongside other aesthetic and feature updates.

The updated prices are reflective of the current market conditions, which have been affected by global inflation and rising manufacturing cost. As both of these models are fully imported from Thailand, the price increase could also have been impacted by the weakening Malaysian Ringgit.

In the same vein, BMW and Mini have also released their updated price lists for 2023, with price hikes of up to 6.3% on certain models.
