Video: Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 CRDi AWD Premium review

We recently got the keys to the updated Hyundai Santa Fe 2.2 CRDi AWD Premium and one subject continued to disturb GC- the name. We also took a quick trip down memory lane, as the Hyundai Santa Fe was one of GC’s first video review when it was published back in 2014.

Priced at RM209,888 before sales tax exemptions, the Hyundai Santa Fe offers dynamism and comfort for seven passengers on board.

Now, you must be thinking, this isn’t the facelifted Santa Fe that features the new T-shaped headlamps. For this round of model updates, Hyundai-Sime Darby Malaysia has included new design for the 19-inch rims in this Premium variant and included third-row air-conditioning for all variants.

Other key features on the Hyundai Santa Fe Premium variant include Bi-LED projection lights with dynamic bending function and a smart powered tailgate with a full contactless opening.

Inside, the Hyundai Santa Fe Premium variant adds a powered driver’s seat, passenger seat with separate controls for rear passengers, Nappa leather upholstery and a digital seven-inch driver’s instrument cluster.

Look out for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 being featured in this review as well! Folding down the second-row seats for entry to the third row is just a push of the Smart One Touch Walk-in button, making it even easy for children and the elderly to activate the movement.

Under the hood is a 2.2-litre turbodiesel unit churning out 193 hp and 440 Nm of torque, paired to a smooth-shifting 8-speed automatic and delivered to all four wheels via an active torque distributing all-wheel drive coupling. Smart and Sport drive modes are also available to suit the road conditions and driver’s mood.

As for safety features, the premium variant gets Rear Occupant Alert, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and avoidance assist in addition to the standard fitment of six airbags, ESC and Downhill Brake Control.
