2026 Jaecoo J5 est. price now lowered to RM110k, launch in March

Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia has announced a revised estimated price for the upcoming 2026 Jaecoo J5 during a recent media gathering. Originally estimated to start at around RM120,000, the sub-compact SUV is now expected to begin from RM110,000 and is set to launch as early as next month.

To further incentivise the value of the Jaecoo J5, Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia is also offering a ‘Super Early Bird Package’ worth RM8,888 for customers who place an early booking. The package includes a complimentary one-year insurance policy worth RM3,000, an Omoda Jaecoo ‘Ang Pau’ rebate worth RM3,888, as well as a set of Jaecoo J5 accessories valued at RM2,000. These accessories include an in-car karaoke set, a flashlight, and a subwoofer.

First previewed at the Omoda Jaecoo Carnival last year, the Jaecoo J5 is positioned as the entry-level model in the Jaecoo lineup here in Malaysia, sitting below the Jaecoo J7. While it shares much of its design language with its larger J7 sibling, the J5 is smaller in size, placing it closer to other B-Segment SUVs such as the Honda HR-V, Proton X50, and its closely related cousin, the Chery Omoda 5.

Speaking of the Chery Omoda 5, the Jaecoo J5 also shares a very similar powertrain. Under the bonnet sits a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 147 hp and 210 Nm of torque, with power sent exclusively to the front wheels via a CVT gearbox.

Interior amenities include an eight-inch digital instrument cluster paired with a portrait-oriented 13.2-inch infotainment display supporting both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other notable features include a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a wireless charging pad, and faux-leather upholstery.

Alongside the Jaecoo J5 announcements, Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia also confirmed that the Omoda C9 PHEV is slated for launch sometime in early Q2 2026. Unlike the Jaecoo J5, however, the estimated starting price for the Omoda C9 PHEV remains at RM220,000

Of course, Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia is also sweetening the deal for the C9 PHEV by offering a similar ‘Super Early Bird Package’, albeit with a lower total value of RM4,618. This package includes a complimentary Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) connector cable worth RM730, along with the same Omoda Jaecoo ‘Ang Pau’ valued at RM3,888.

Despite looking largely identical to the current Omoda C9, the C9 PHEV is instead fitted with Omoda Jaecoo’s ‘Super Hybrid System’ (SHS) hybrid powertrain. This setup pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with three electric motors, delivering a combined output of 605 hp and 915 Nm of torque. Mated to a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT), power is sent to all four wheels, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.9 seconds.

Electrical energy is supplied by a 34.46 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, allowing for an EV-only driving range of up to 150 km. Charging support includes up to 70 kW DC fast charging and 6.6 kW AC charging. On a single full tank of fuel, the company claims a fuel consumption figure of just 1.7 L/100 km (WLTC), with a total driving range of up to 1,100 km.
