Omoda C4 unveiled in China with Lambo-style start button – coming to Malaysia soon

The Chery Omoda C4 (or O4 in some markets) has been shown at the Beijing Auto Show 2026, marking its second full appearance since debuting last year as the Omoda 3. This time around, more details have emerged, including key specifications.

Adding to its importance, officials and dealers from Omoda Jaecoo have indicated that the Omoda C4 is headed for Malaysia sometime this year, alongside the Omoda C7 that has already been previewed in the region.

But first, let’s talk about the exterior. The company says it wanted the design to tap into a more gamer, techno-cyberpunk aesthetic to appeal to a younger, more vibrant audience. According to Omoda Jaecoo, the average age of its designers is just 30 — resulting in a bold, almost Gundam-inspired design language.

Up front, the Omoda C4 features a split headlight setup, with slim daytime running lights (DRLs) positioned at the top, while the main beams sit lower and are integrated into the side vents for a sportier look. A secondary set of DRLs further enhances its sharp, aggressive face.

Along the sides, the car rides on 18-inch wheels framed by squared-off wheel arches. The profile continues the cyber-inspired theme with pronounced, sharp haunches, while the rear adopts L-shaped taillights with a distinctive zig-zag pattern to round off the angular design.

Inside, things are rather familiar. Ahead of the driver sits a letterbox-style display, while the centre houses a vertically oriented infotainment screen, mounted similarly to the Jaecoo J5. Reinforcing its sporty intent is a flat-top and bottom steering wheel, complete with multifunction buttons and scroll wheels.

The cabin comes finished in black leather with red stitching, further emphasising its sporty, gaming-inspired theme. Comfort features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charger, power-adjustable front seats, and a double-layered centre console for added storage. The centre console also houses a Lamborghini-style starter button — a neat touch that ties into the overall gamer aesthetic.

Powertrain-wise, not much has been revealed yet. However, the model will be offered with both a pure internal combustion engine (ICE) and as a hybrid via the brand’s Super Hybrid System (SHS). The ICE version (as pictured here) is expected to mirror the setup found in the Chery Tiggo Cross, featuring a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 147 hp and 210 Nm, driving the front wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT).

As for the SHS variant, it is also set to follow the Tiggo Cross Hybrid formula, pairing the same 1.5-litre turbo engine with a pair of electric motors through a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT). Combined, the system delivers 204 hp and 310 Nm, with a claimed total range of up to 1,000 km.

During the Business Summit, a higher-performance variant was also announced — the Omoda O4 Ultra SHS-H. This version adopts a more aggressive approach, featuring a sharper exterior design with a large rear wing, painted brake callipers, sportier wheels, and more pronounced bumpers. Handling is also said to be improved, although further details remain under wraps.

It is powered by a 1.5-litre engine producing 143 hp and 215 Nm, paired with an electric motor delivering 204 hp and 310 Nm. While combined output figures have yet to be disclosed, the company claims a 0-100 km/h time of 7.5 seconds and a top speed of 179 km/h.

For now, no cemented dates for when these new models will be arriving in Malaysia have been announced. The price has also been left unannounced, but judging that it will share a similar setup as the Jaecoo J5 and Chery Tiggo Cross, prices shouldn’t stray too far from the RM100,000 mark.
