Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia took less than 2 years to sell 30,000 cars

Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia has taken less than two years to sell more than 30,000 cars in Malaysia since its market entry in July 2024. This places the carmaker among the fastest-growing automotive names in the local market. Globally, the brand has expanded into 64 markets and recently exceeded one million units in total sales across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.

In Malaysia, the 30,000-unit milestone is supported by a lineup that includes the Jaecoo J5, Omoda C9 PHEV, Jaecoo J7, Jaecoo J7 PHEV, Jaecoo J8, and Omoda C9 models. Based on year-to-date data, the company maintains a top-three position among non-national automotive brands in the country.

Omoda Jaecoo Malaysia Head, Chris Tan said, “This accomplishment is a shared success. It is made possible by the unwavering support of our partners, stakeholders, and most importantly, our loyal customers. Their trust has been the primary engine driving us forward.”

Moving forward, the brand intends to focus on electrification and intelligent mobility by introducing additional models to the Malaysian market.

The latest addition to the local stable is the Omoda C9 PHEV, priced at RM208,800 on-the-road without insurance. It features the “Super Hybrid System” (SHS), a series-parallel hybrid setup also found in the J7 PHEV.

The powertrain consists of a 1.5-litre turbocharged inline-four engine producing 143 hp/215 Nm. This is paired with a three-speed dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) and a triple-motor setup. Two motors on the front axle produce 225 hp/390 Nm, while a third motor on the rear axle adds 238 hp/310 Nm. Combined, the system delivers a total output of 537 hp and 650 Nm.

Furthermore, Chery Corporate Malaysia has signed a strategic agreement with Touch ‘n Go to fit all new vehicles from Chery, Omoda Jaecoo, and iCaur with RFID at the point of sale nationwide.

This initiative supports the transition toward a seamless tolling experience. The factory-fitted RFID tags are compatible with upcoming Single Lane Fast Flow (SLFF) and Multi-lane Fast Flow (MLFF) systems, positioning the vehicles for the barrierless tolling infrastructure expected in the near future.
