Video: iCaur V23 previewed – new Chery sub-brand to enter Malaysia

iCaur, the sub-brand of Chery, has just previewed the iCaur V23 along with the iCaur 03 and 03T at the Malaysian Autoshow 2025. Pronounced as “i–Car” with a silent “U”, the V23 has been confirmed to make its way to Malaysian soil in the near future.

The iCaur brand separates itself from the crowd by allowing customers to personalise many parts of the car such as wheels, front grille, and many other accessories to suit their personal preferences.

Through what we saw at the iCar booth at the Auto Shanghai 2025 motor show, customisation options were rather extensive. Let’s hope that these services carry on to our shores when the car does launch in Malaysia.

Inside, the design philosophy mirrors the exterior with a retro-futuristic vibe. Unfortunately, not much details have been released about the car but we do see that it features a large central infotainment display with a mix of physical buttons and rotary dials for climate and media controls. Interestingly enough, the gauge cluster presents itself in the form of a small circular display just like a MINI.

Information for the powertrain has not been revealed unfortunately but looking at the Chinese market where the V23 made its debut last year, the car is available as a battery electric vehicle (BEV) and range-extender electric vehicle (REEV).

For the EV spec, it comes in all-wheel-drive (AWD) and rear-wheel-drive (RWD) spec. The RWD spec features a single electric motor producing 136 hp and 180 Nm. Power is supplied by a 59.93 kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery allowing for a range of 401 km (CLTC). If you please, the car can also be fitted with a larger 81.76 kWh ternary lithium-ion battery (NMC) that ups the range to 550 km (CLTC).

The AWD spec features dual electric motors for both the front and rear axles and produces a total of 211 hp and 292 Nm. It will only be available with the larger 81.76 kWh NMC battery and allows a range of 501 km (CLTC).

iCaur says that all specs of the V23 will be able to charge from 10% to 80% in 30 minutes via DC fast charging.

For now, the fully electric iCaur V23 will be the most likely specification to come to Malaysia. Maybe the range-extender EV version might come too if the market demands it.

Prices for the iCaur V23 and the 03 are very similar in China. For now, the iCaur 03 has been given an estimated price of RM145,000 and RM155,000, so we can expect the V23 to cost very similarly when it does launch.
