Jetour G700 makes first appearance in Malaysia – flagship off-roading beast with 904 hp

While the Jetour booth at the Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show (KLIMS) 2026 mostly flaunts the Jetour T1 and newly announced Jetour T2 i-DM, a walk behind the large centre-stage LED screen will reveal a big blue beast hiding in plain sight. That beast is the Jetour G700 — a flagship luxury SUV with serious off-road credentials, making its first appearance in Malaysia.

We hope the images do it justice because the Jetour G700 is quite the chonker. If you’re still not convinced, the SUV measures 5,198 mm long, 2,050 mm wide, and 1,956 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,870 mm. Those dimensions put it in the same league as heavyweight off-roaders such as the Toyota Land Cruiser, Land Rover Defender 110, and its key rival, the GWM Tank 500.

Speaking of the Defender, Jetour says the design of the G700 was led by former Land Rover Chief Designer Andrew Collinson, which may explain its Western-inspired looks. Like the rest of Jetour’s T-series lineup, it embraces a rugged, boxy silhouette with strong off-road appeal. However, the G700 turns things up a notch with a more premium execution befitting its luxury status.

It’s worth noting that Jetour labels the G700 displayed here as a “concept”. However, we’re not entirely convinced by that description, as production versions are already on sale in China and appear virtually identical to the vehicle shown at KLIMS.

In fact, examples displayed at the Beijing Autoshow 2026 feature a cleaner exterior treatment with fewer off-road accessories, suggesting that the G700 could be offered in multiple styling themes depending on how rugged buyers want their SUV to look.

Staying true to its off-road-focused character, the Jetour G700’s interior adopts a rugged and functional design, albeit one that’s elevated with premium materials and technology befitting its flagship status. The centre of the dashboard sits a 15.6-inch tablet-style infotainment display, similar to those found across the wider Jetour lineup.

What’s really drawing attention is a 35.4-inch panoramic display that almost stretches across the base of the windscreen, functioning in a manner similar to BMW’s Panoramic iDrive system.

In China, the G700 can be equipped with a Lexicon sound system featuring up to 18 speakers, along with a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a 17.3-inch roof-mounted entertainment screen, and an integrated fridge located beneath the front centre armrest. Buyers can also choose between five- and six-seat layouts, with the latter gaining individual captain seats for the second row.

The Jetour G700 is offered solely as a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) combining a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a set of electric motors via a dedicated hybrid transmission (DHT) — the latter claimed by Jetour to feature an industry-first clutchless gearshift design. Combined, it makes a whopping 904 hp and 1,135 Nm, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in just 4.6 seconds and a top speed of 180km/h.

Power for the electric system comes from a 34.13 kWh battery pack supplied by CATL. Thanks to its 800V electrical architecture, the G700 supports DC fast charging at up to 170 kW, allowing the battery to charge from 30-80% in just 10 minutes. AC charging is supported too, with a full charge taking around five hours. Combined with the combustion engine setup, the Jetour G700 boasts a total driving range of up to 1,400 km under the CLTC test cycle.

Looking like a serious off-roader, the Jetour G700 has the credentials to back it up. It boasts a water-wading depth of up to 970 mm, aided by IP68-rated protection for key powertrain and electrical components. The G700 also offers an approach angle of 40 degrees and a departure angle of 32 degrees, while being capable of tackling gradients of up to 45 degrees.

The Jetour G700 is tipped to make its Malaysian debut sometime next year, although an official launch date has yet to be confirmed by Jetour Malaysia. Pricing remains under wraps too, but the Chinese market provides some context. There, the G700 starts from RMB329,900 (approx. RM198k), undercutting the GWM Tank 500, which starts from RMB360,000 (approx. RM216k). In Malaysia, the Tank 500 is currently priced from RM328,800 on the road and without insurance.
