GWM Malaysia commits to CKD – new Hi4 hybrid, Haval models coming soon

GWM Malaysia, now in its third year, has built a strong reputation among local buyers. With an expanding lineup under the Ora, Haval, and GWM brands, the company is committed to pushing even further by expanding its local production to become a key regional hub for the marque, complemented by more models to come.

In a press release, GWM Malaysia reported sales growth of 2,532% in 2023, 83% in 2024, and 313% year-to-date in 2025, supported by a growing network of over 30 outlets nationwide. The company also revealed that the GWM Haval H6 HEV is now Malaysia’s second-best-selling hybrid SUV and the top-selling Chinese hybrid SUV.

With promising sales performance year after year, GWM is doubling down on its commitments to Malaysia and following up with CKD plans through “continued investment in local operations and hybrid innovation” the company said.

In a speech at the company’s three-year anniversary event today, GWM Malaysia Chief Operating Officer Roslan Abdullah said that the further investments in localisation and talent development is part of the company’s long term commitment to the country, and is a major step toward “building Malaysia as a key regional hub for GWM”.

The company will introduce more new energy vehicles (NEV) as part of its “All Powertrains. All Scenarios. All Users.” philosophy, which aims to meet the diverse needs of Malaysian drivers.

This includes expanding its lineup with more Haval SUVs and new models featuring GWM’s Hi4 intelligent hybrid system, as seen in the GWM Wey G9, which the company plans to launch soon.

Previewed over a month ago, the GWM Wey G9 marks the brand’s first luxury people carrier entry in Malaysia, positioned to rival models such as the Toyota Alphard and Zeekr 009. Officially confirmed for local assembly, the Wey G9 features a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain capable of delivering up to 1,000 km of range (NEDC) on a single tank.

The PHEV setup pairs a 1.5-litre engine with two electric motors for a combined output of 442 hp and 642 Nm of torque. When it launches in Malaysia, the model is expected to be priced around RM300,000.
