Toyota to debut over 10 electrified vehicles across Asia over next 3 years – Hilux EV coming soon?

Toyota has announced plans to introduce at least 10 new electrified vehicles (xEVs) across Asia over the next three years. Revealed during a media day at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, of which AutoBuzz.my was in attendance, the new product assault is a continuation of the marque’s multi-pathway approach, with a diverse range of offerings utilising various powertrains to further its carbon neutrality goals.

As part of its “30 by 30 mission”, the Japanese carmaker is targeting for 30% of its total sales in the ASEAN region to be xEVs by 2030. By then, cumulative xEV sales in the region are expected to surpass 1.5 million units, most of which will be hybrid models (HEVs), Toyota says.

A key lever in its plans will be the introduction of more “affordable” HEV models, such as the Toyota Yaris Ativ hybrid, which will help accelerate electrification in mass market segments.

More fully-electric or battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) will also be introduced in line with countries’ infrastructure availability, including a model from the International Multi-Purpose Vehicle (IMV) series, hinting at the debut of the previously-teased Hilux EV. The new fully electric pickup truck could come within the next year, according to the press briefing.

The company will also commence local production of fully electric or battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) in Indonesia and Thailand, while alternative or flex-fuel projects including biofuel trials in Latin America and Africa, as well as hydrogen fuel development across Asia, will also proceed full steam ahead.

Toyota’s booth at this year’s Japan Mobility Show will be a demonstration of its Mobility for All philosophy, where it will be showcasing a broad lineup of xEVs under its various brands. These include models from Century, Lexus, GR, Toyota, and Daihatsu, across the entire spectrum of affordability, highlighting its commitment to carbon neutrality through multiple pathways to electrification.

Amongst the cars on show at the booth will be the recently unveiled Toyota Land Cruiser FJ, a compact off-roader that’s bringing back the iconic FJ nameplate. Toyota has now confirmed that the all-new FJ will be locally assembled in Thailand.

While selling xEVs is one way to reduce carbon emissions, Toyota is also taking it a step further by exploring new mobility solutions. The company plans to work with logistics partners and develop new energy solutions under the Commercial Japan Partnership Technologies Corporation (CJPT) project to cut its carbon footprint through data-driven efficiency.

The company will also be reinforcing its commitment to its customers and audiences in Asia with the Move Your World brand initiative. In the next phase in early 2026, Toyota will be introducing more grassroots initiatives across the region with an aim to “connect culture and creativity [and] engaging talent across the region with a common cause”.

Toyota Motor Corporation CEO of Asia Region, Masahiko Maeda, said, “At Toyota, we believe that achieving Mobility for All and Carbon Neutrality requires more than one solution of vehicles, energy and data.”

“We believe the future of mobility is ours to create—through collaboration, shared purpose, and collective action. Together, we can build a mobility ecosystem that brings smiles to people across the Asia region,” he added.
