All-new 2026 Proton Saga revealed in full at the 47th ASEAN Summit

Proton has revealed the all-new 2026 Proton Saga without camouflage for the first time at the 47th ASEAN Summit, where it appeared alongside the Proton eMAS 5 (stylised as e.MAS 5) in the presence of Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim and Premier of the People’s Republic of China, Li Qiang.

For now, official images from Proton only show the front end of the much-anticipated fourth-generation Saga, making its debut in the familiar Ruby Red exterior colour. While the overall proportions of the car from these images appear to be somewhat similar to those of the outgoing model, the front fascia is undoubtedly all-new.

Starting with the most obvious change, the headlight assembly now features a more modern, boxier design. It’s integrated into the ethereal bow trim, with the daytime running lights connected by a sleek chrome bar — a first for the Proton Saga.

Lower down, the car features a slimmer, more composed, single-piece lower intake with enclosed side vents and small cutouts — presumably to channel air through the wheel wells for improved airflow. Speaking of wheels, the car sports a four-twin-spoke dual-tone wheel design, presumably to be 15-inches in size.

In one image with the door slightly ajar, the handles on the exterior also appear to be trimmed with a chrome strip for a more premium touch. The side mirrors, finished in black, also integrate the indicator lights — just like on its predecessor.

At the top of the front windshield, a larger black housing with a small cutout can be seen, hinting at the addition of an advanced driver assistance system (ADAS) to the Proton Saga. While details remain scarce, Proton previously confirmed in a promotional video that the updated model will feature autonomous emergency braking (AEB).

The same video also revealed a full-width LED rear light bar, similar to the one on the Proton S70. Inside, the Saga gains two new digital displays for the infotainment system and instrument cluster, along with redesigned oval air vents replacing the squared units from the outgoing model.

Proton also revealed that the new Saga will debut the company’s Advanced Modular Architecture platform, which was fully designed and engineered by Malaysians with technical collaboration from Geely. This suggests the Saga could feature a naturally aspirated version of the 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine found in the Proton X50.

While we await more details on the all-new, fourth-generation Proton Saga, its full debut should be just around the corner — evident from its reveal without camouflage. When that happens, stay tuned for the latest updates on Malaysia’s very own “People’s Car.”
