TQ Wuling Bingo EV coming to Malaysia in Q4 2025 – CKD by Tan Chong Motor

Tan Chong Motor Holdings (TCMH) and SAIC GM Wuling Automobile Co Ltd (SGM Wuling) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) today to introduce the Wuling brand in Malaysia, which will be formally known as TQ Wuling in our parts of the world.

This strategic partnership was formalised by TCMH Group Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Ho, and SGM Wuling, represented by President of PT SGMW Motor Indonesia, Tang Wenshen, and SGMW Commercial Director of Overseas Business and Engineering Centre, Sun Dazhi, with the Minister of Transport, Anthony Loke, officiating the ceremony.

The first model slated for local launch under the new brand is the fully electric (EV) TQ Wuling Bingo, with TCMH targeting a price point below RM100,000, making it one of, if not the cheapest EV on sale in Malaysia.

That price is only possible as the TQ Wuling Bingo – and future models under the brand – will all be locally assembled at TCMH’s production facility located in Segambut, Kuala Lumpur. While the TQ Wuling models manufactured here will be for domestic consumption in the first phase, the company has hinted at potential export operations down the line.

TCMH will also manage the nationwide distribution of TQ Wuling vehicles and establish a comprehensive network for after-sales support.

The TQ Wuling Bingo has already been launched in Indonesia back in 2023, known there as the Wuling Binguo EV. It measures 3,950 mm long, 1,708 mm wide, and 1,580 mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,560 mm, placing its size roughly on par with the Perodua Axia.

Two variants of the Wuling Bingo are offered in Indonesia, both powered by a front-mounted electric motor producing 68 hp (50 kW). Depending on the variant, the motor is paired to either a 31.9 kWh pack providing a range of 333 km (CLTC test cycle), or a larger 37.9 kWh pack increasing the range to 410 km (CLTC).

While detailed charging specifications are not disclosed, the company states that the Bingo equipped with the smaller 31.9 kWh battery can be recharged from 20% to 100% using AC charging in 5.5 hours.

Standard equipment for the TQ Wuling Bingo in Indonesia includes dual 10.25-inch displays for the infotainment system and driver’s digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather upholstery, six-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and an electronic parking brake (EPB) with auto hold.
