Sandwiched in between the busy Auto Shanghai 2025 news cycle was the Porsche 911 Spirit 70. This is a Carrera GTS Cabriolet dressed up in 70s and early 80s styling, and will be limited to only 1,500 units globally – so act fast if retro style is your thing.
The Porsche 911 Spirit 70 is the third model in their Heritage Design strategy, joining the exclusive club alongside the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition and the 911 Sport Classic.
This Heritage Design strategy is Porsche’s way of bringing back the old styling touches the company used in the 1950s, 60s, 70s, and 80s and slapping them on their current models to make them a “collector’s item”. Genius marketing, if you ask us – because nostalgia sells.
On the 911 Spirit 70, that includes the striking yellow paint job, which in Porsche lingo is called “Oliver Neo,” along with “Bronzite” accents.

To make sure you know you’re looking at the 911 Spirit 70, Porsche has slapped a large ‘70’ sticker on the side with long racing stripes, which Stuttgart says is a nod to the safety stickers from the 1970s. Even the Porsche emblem on the 911 Spirit 70 is almost identical to the one they used way back in 1963.
If you’re a fan of patterned interiors, you’re in luck! The cabin of the 911 Spirit 70 is decked out with Porsche’s signature Pascha fabric pattern in black and Oliver Neo, which Porsche describes as looking like a moving chequered flag.
This Pascha pattern can be found on the centre panels of the 18-way Sports Seats Plus, the door mirrors, and even inside the glove compartment.
As for the 12.65-inch digital gauge cluster, it sports green digits that have roots to the Porsche 356, with the model lettering integrated right into the fully digital rev counter. The special edition of the Sport Chrono stopwatch also features white hands and green numerals, echoing the retro vibe.
Being based on the Carrera GTS Cabriolet, the Porsche 911 Spirit 70 packs a 3.6-litre flat-six engine producing 541 hp and 610 Nm of torque, working in tandem with an electric motor integrated into Porsche’s dual-clutch PDK gearbox. This enables a 0-100 km/h sprint in 3.1 seconds and onwards to a top speed of 312 km/h.
For tech geeks, Porsche is also offering a new app for the Apple Vision Pro, which allows users to immerse themselves in the 1970s when they are configuring their 911 Spirit 70. The app will be available for free in the app store.
Fancy a blast from the past on four wheels? The Porsche 911 Spirit 70 is priced from EUR240,000 (approx. RM1.1 million) in Europe. Porsche says it will arrive at European dealerships from April 2025 with other markets to follow. You might want to hit up your local Porsche dealer pronto to snag one before this limited-edition 911 is all spoken for.
If the 1970s styling is not quite your tune, Porsche’s Exclusive Manufaktur programme can also help you customise your ride to exactly your own preference – with over 1,000 options currently available on offer.
In fact, Porsche says that the average sales per car equipped with Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur options have doubled in the last five years, hence why the company is expanding the “Manufaktur” programme in the future to keep up with demand.
