Sporty GWM Ora Good Cat GT with 171 hp coming soon to Malaysia!

During the preview of the Tank 500 yesterday, GWM Malaysia also announced that the fully electric (EV) GWM Ora Good Cat GT will soon be launched in Malaysia.

If the “GT” moniker is not obvious enough, the GWM Ora Good Cat GT is the sportier version of the regular GWM Ora Good Cat, which is currently available in two variants here in Malaysia, priced from RM113,800 to RM143,800.

While the regular Ora Good Cat has a cutesy and rounded exterior design, the GT goes for a more aggressive look, starting with its two-tone contrast colour schemes.

The aggressive touches are even more evident in the front bumper of the GWM Ora Good Cat GT, with a variant-exclusive design featuring large faux air vents. The wheel arches of the GT variant are also slightly flared and finished in black for a sportier profile.

Towards the rear, there’s a large two-tone spoiler with the “GT” emblem embossed into the end plates. The rear bumper sports diffusers elements with two-tone accents. As for the wheels, the Ora Good Cat GT rides on five-spoke 18-inch alloy wheels with two-tone accents.

Based on the Thailand specifications where it’s launched, the GWM Ora Good Cat GT gets a front-mounted electric motor that pumps out 171 hp (126 kW) and 250 Nm of torque. That’s a 28 hp and 40 Nm increase compared to the standard Ora Good Cat.

In Thailand, the GWM Ora Good Cat GT is equipped with a 57.70 kWh lithium-ion phosphate (LFP) battery pack that provides a range of 460 km according to the (slightly optimistic) NEDC cycle.

For comparison, the 400 Pro variant of the Ora Good Cat in Malaysia uses a 47.79 kWh LFP battery pack that has a range of 400 km (NEDC), whereas the 500 Ultra variant utilises a 63.14 kWh ternary lithium (NMC) battery pack with a range of 500 km (NEDC).

Charging is available via 6.6 kW AC and 60 kW DC, with the DC option giving you a 0-80% charge in one hour or a 30-80% top-up in 30 minutes.

Like the standard GWM Ora Good Cat, the GT variant is equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display and a driver’s seven-inch digital gauge cluster. It is also finished in a two-tone colour, but with sportier colour combinations, like red and black or black with yellow.

In Thailand, the GWM Ora Good Cat retails from THB799,000 (approx. RM106k) to THB899,000 (approx. RM119k), while the GT variant is priced at THB1.099 million (approx. RM145k). We expect the GWM Ora Good Cat GT to also fetch a higher price tag here in Malaysia against its “regular” counterparts.
