Well, now, what do we have here? We were just teased with the clay derriere of the upcoming Volvo EX60 electric vehicle (EV) during the Volvo ES90’s reveal yesterday, courtesy of the presenter ‘accidentally’ opening the wrong door to the correct car.
For about five seconds during the Volvo ES90 reveal video (timestamp 24:55), we saw a glimpse of the Volvo EX60’s rear end nearly completely exposed to us. Aside from the very obvious licence plate that says ‘EX60’, the clay model is also dressed up with a rear windshield, rear bumper, and taillights – looking like it’s almost production ready.

Curiously, the shape of the rear taillight is now fundamentally different from what we’ve seen on other Volvo cars. Rather than following the conventional L-shape we’re all familiar with, it seems to be completely vertical instead – more akin to a lightning bolt that follows along the edges of the rear.
We’d be lying if we said we didn’t see this coming – Volvo has already confirmed that the EX60 is set to make its official debut next year during their 2024 financial results presentation. Road testing for the EX60 is scheduled to begin sometime this year, too.

The Volvo EX60 is also confirmed to be built on the new SPA3 platform, which will also underpin at least two other Volvo models to be launched in the following years.
Similar to the Swedish marque’s strategy with the ’90’ Series SUV, the internal combustion engine-powered Volvo XC60 should also be continuously sold alongside the fully electric EX60. The XC60 has been updated recently with a mild restyling, alongside an updated interior.
